Purpose of the position:

The Bridge Tender is in charge of and responsible for the safe operation of our bridges.

 

Position accountabilities:

Recording each movement of the span and the date, time, and name of the vessel and direction of passage in a log book Perform bridge maintenance to movable bridge operating components and other basic maintenance You will be working in a safety sensitive environment which includes working around heavy moving equipment All work is performed outdoors, you will be working on railway bridges with exposure to all weather conditions such as rain, direct sunlight and snow Must be comfortable working on a structure at heights with proper fall protection equipment Relief position will work Saturday shift and fill in for vacation and personal days Work is seasonal and employees are called in seniority order as and when required Employees may be trained on and required to work more than one bridge

 

Position requirements:

High school diploma or GED and valid drivers license Position is subject to call outs and will need to be flexible to work all shifts if needed Must be willing to work at heights (bridges, ladders, roofs) Outdoor work experience is required Must be able to converse proficiently in English language skills using radio and telephone operations Must be proficient in the use of common hand and power tools

Medical Requirements:
