Brokerage Specialist: Professional Lines

Job Summary:

This position is focused on generating opportunities, client relationships and professional lines brokerage placements. Creates relationships with existing and new brokerage carriers, to negotiate terms and pricing with a high sense of urgency. Interacts with Companies and Brokers via telephone, e-mail, in-person visits, networking and regular mail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop client relationships to generate submission opportunities and a regular flow of businessReview submission documents received to prepare additional information including; loss pics/summaries, loss stratifications, risk summaries, narratives, online research and requesting additional information needed from the clientSelect and market the risk, by line of coverage, to markets to negotiate terms & pricingProvide comparisons and illustrations to compare options and support client presentation processUtilizes knowledge of automated systems to develop information for new or renewal policiesPrepares quotations for clients and answers inquiries from clients, policyholder, or prospectsReviews requests for cancellation, endorsements, etc.Reviews policies for renewal consideration and remarketingRequest additional documentation necessary for the processing of an application, endorsement or cancellation.Conduct marketing visits to clients and attend industry eventsWork with support associates, assistants and central processing to assure work is completed in a timely manor and with accuracy. This may include mentorship and guidance of the team member working with you on risksPerforms other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

Must have Producer’s License3 plus years of insurance experienceBasic familiarity with computersGood oral and written communications skillsStrong analytical skills and the ability to pay attention to details.A high sense of urgencyResourceful and controlled assertive behavior characteristicsMust have demonstrated negotiation & sales skillsTechnical knowledge of insurance coverage forms and their application to exposureKnowledge of departmental regulations and policiesAbility to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted underwriting practicesStrong interpersonal skills working with Staff and Company UnderwritersExperience in standard underwriting practices and procedures
