The Broncos Empowered Program centers on three main areas of focus: Empowering Student-Athlete Holistic Development – to include career development and graduate school prep; leadership development; personal development; financial education; community service; diversity and inclusion; personal brand management and NIL Empowering Alums and Community – to include community engagement; student-athlete career mentoring services; “W” Club and Hall of Fame engagement; and community service Empowering Coaches and Staff – to include leadership development; staff mentoring; diversity and inclusion initiatives; culture building and continuing education opportunities.

General Overview:

Western Michigan University is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Student-Athlete Development Graduate Assistant to support the initiatives of Broncos Empowered. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment dedicated to the development and empowerment of student-athletes, staff, and community. This is a two-year paid GA role with paid tuition!

Key Responsibilities:

Community Service: Plan and oversee all community service and outreach efforts while utilizing the Helper Helper App. Workshop Planning and Execution: Collaborate with the Broncos Empowered team to plan, organize, and implement workshops and events aimed to foster career, leadership, and personal development for student-athletes. Event Coordination: Support the coordination of various events, including logistics, scheduling, and meal orders, ensuring a smooth execution and positive experience for all participants. Affinity Groups: Oversee all student-athlete affinity groups. Social Media and Marketing: Create content and social media posts.

Additional Requirements:

Current undergraduate completion required. Candidates will need to be accepted to a graduate program within the University. Passion for supporting student-athletes and a commitment to holistic development. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute creative ideas. Experience in event planning, leadership training, or mentorship programs is a plus. Proficient in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, social media) Videography skills
