Budget Analyst

Reporting to the Director of Facilities Management Services (FMS), the Budget Analyst is responsible for budget creation and tracking, reviewing, recording, monitoring and reconciling financial transactions and providing in-depth financial analysis of expenditures and revenues, including utilities. 

Actively participates in the annual budget process. Works with department head in preparation of capital and operating budgets. Enter annual budget requests into University budget planning software. Prepares complex budget analysis and projections for budget development.  Oversees the fiscal year-end close process, working closely with department leaders.Obtain and maintain proficiency in the University budget software, and provide training and assistance of these systems to staff as needed. Prepares recurring financial reports - budget to actual, financial forecast/projections, etc.  Manages requests and purchases of equipment and supplies, capital expenditures, resource management, contract review & renewals. Manages processing of purchasing and accounts payable transactions, and the review and tracking of expenses against approved budgets.Works closely with Finance and Accounting in the preparation and posting of the following: invoices, P.O.'s, check requests, payroll and leave balance data, credit card statements, deposits, etc.Develops and documents fiscal procedures and controls. Maintains literacy with university fiscal policies and procedures and ensures compliance with University and industry-based regulations.Provides guidance in budget development, management, and the interpretation of policies and procedures related to purchasing, contracting and other financial activities.Participates as a member of the management team to provide staff with problem solving financial and general operational matters.Provides solutions to problems presented by lower level staff on budget reporting and accounting.  Works collaboratively with other university departments and vendors.Stay informed of current trends and best practices in facilities management budgeting.
