Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Budget Manager – Boca Raton, FL.

The Budget Manager assists and works with the Associate Budget Director and the Associate Vice President for Financial Affairs/University Budget Director to provide the university with development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting functions.

Summary of Responsibilities include:

In coordination with the Director, assists and coordinates the budgetary functions of the Budget Office, including preparation and monitoring of all funds, including but not limited to E&G, carry-forward, Auxiliary.

Works with the team to prepare and coordinate the annual budget process.

Monitors and provides budgetary reports and analysis for university management and the departments on an ongoing basis.

Responsible for submitting the University's Annual Operating Budget, SCD, and other requests to the Florida Board of Governors.

Analyzes data, develops alternatives, and recommends resolving budget problems.

Analyzes budget office operating expenditure patterns, including Salary & Benefits, and develops monthly budget reports and projections.

Assists the Director and departments with annual budget requests; provides detailed reports on previous fiscal budget requests and year-of-year variances.

Develop financial models for planning, forecasting, and decision-making.

Review and reconcile expenditures for university budget departments, monitor spending variances, and advise Director(s) as needed.

Produces budgetary reports needed for annual budget construction. 

Monitors university budgets and resolves funding deficits, SmartTag changes, and funding balance corrections.

Coordinate with the university budget directors, assisting with the departmental projected expenses and annual commitments.

Works with the Director to provide Auxiliary quarterly reports and annual review reporting.

Works closely with Directors to understand budget requests, recommend solutions for expense budget accounts, and position budget controls.

Processes budget amendments for fund transfers, as needed.

Assists budget staff with data gathering and information.

Provides data and information to requests from State and Internal auditors if requested.

Guides support staff with budget reporting, funding balances, and Workday reports for departments.

Performs other job-related duties as needed; provides back-up support to the Director and/or assists with designated projects as assigned by the Director or designee.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Experience with Workday, Higher Education, and proficiency in Excel.

Salary:

$75,000 - $85,000 per year.
