WSP has an opportunity for an experienced **Building Automation Systems Engineer** to join our California Property & Buildings team in **Riverside, Irvine or San Diego, CA** . Our team work closely with architects, owners, and teams throughout WSP to advance sustainability, health, and resilience goals on large, complex projects around the world.

You will actively participate in the complete project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out and commissioning. WSP offers excellent growth opportunities. As the Building Automation Systems Engineer, you will provide technical assistance and guidance for due diligence, design, development, building, testing, and inspecting of smart building projects in the public and private sectors. Tasks may include assisting with the research, design, concept development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of intelligent technologies using a converged network approach, and systems that make predictive and automated decisions impacting building capabilities, including access control, acoustics, audio systems, security, and video surveillance. You will generate accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding equipment, installation, integration, and operation specifications. You will ensure that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality for building inhabitants.
**Your Impact**
+ Provide designs for Building Automation Systems including schematic drawings, complex sequences of operation for mechanical equipment (boilers, chillers, pumps, fans) and specification writing.
+ Collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and installation.
+ Perform professional building technology work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and installation or operating permits.
+ Participate in incorporating advanced technology, modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications; implementing future-ready solutions with smart building technology design standards.
+ Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work, assist with laying out installation of equipment, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, schematics, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
+ Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
+ Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements and calculations, statistical analysis, and reporting.
+ Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
+ Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to navigate, improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or installation issues or opportunities.
+ Conduct technology studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular design and construction problem or issue and/or to plan for future needs.
+ Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during site investigations, offering input with developing action plans for low to mid-level risk installation, equipment operations, and/or mitigation activities.
+ Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
+ Work collaboratively with other professionals, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on building improvement and development projects.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
**Who You Are**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
+ 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in Building Automation Systems.
+ Knowledge of building technology principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
+ Experience with building planning, design, and installation management; including renovation and new design projects.
+ Knowledge of smart building design.
+ Knowledge of relevant building technology installation and/or construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
+ Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
+ Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
+ Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
+ Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
+ Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., Revit, AutoCAD, CAM).
+ Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, load calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ EIT certification or PE
+ AutoCAD and Revit experience desired

**Compensation**
Expected Salary (all locations): $82,400 - $117,700
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
