Job Title: Building Automation Technician

Job Description

As a Building Automation Technician, you will be responsible for start-up, commissioning, and re-commissioning customer systems utilizing DDC technology. You will troubleshoot mid-level systems issues and provide solutions, working closely with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper system operation. This role includes project delivery for small projects and comprehensive system operation from controllers to sensors, including software loading and calibration.

ResponsibilitiesStart up, commission, and re-commission customer systems using DDC technology.Provide solutions to mid-level systems problems and assist others in troubleshooting.Collaborate with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper system operation.Deliver turnkey project completion on small projects (80 or fewer budgeted hours).Handle unitary systems (VAV/FPB/FCU), small AHUs, basic CW/HW systems, and front-end commissioning.Complete all required commissioning documentation and maintain accurate As-Built drawing packages.Perform static commissioning of software programming and site-specific training for system operators.Set up operator workstations with all associated software and perform daily job database backups.Assist with project turnover to the Service Department and communicate job progress to Project Manager.Maintain a daily log of job-related activities and adhere to safety standards.Possess and apply computer and networking skills to maintain laptops and mobile devices.Essential SkillsBachelor’s Degree in building HVAC with a focus on building automation controls.Field experience in installation and operation of Controls.Ability to understand and navigate third-party control systems and integrations.Experience with building automation controls and Phoenix software, including WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, Supervision, and Accel Works.Strong troubleshooting skills in HVAC, TCP/IP, computer, electrical, and building automation systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience dealing with multiple simultaneous challenges across different disciplines.Good understanding of the operation and control of mechanical equipment and their control sequences.Work Environment

This role covers the NJ territory, with candidates responsible for driving their own vehicles and being reimbursed for daily expenses such as tolls. Candidates are not required to report to Clifton daily and can go directly to job sites from their homes. After transitioning to a full-time role, employees will receive a company car, EZ pass, and a company credit card. Candidates must be capable of climbing ladders and lifting items up to 50 lbs. Projects are located primarily along the 78 corridor, with significant work in university settings and large projects in Newark. Typical work hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with an occasional night shift, but opportunities for overtime may be available.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00
