**Posting Details** Position Information **Position/Classification Title** Building Environmental Services Technician **Working Title** Building Environmental Services Technician - Grounds **Competency Level** Contributing **Position Number** 100977 **Salary Grade Equivalent** **FLSA** Non-Exempt **Appointment Type** Permanent - Full Time **FTE** 1 = 40 hours/week, 12 months **If time limited, duration date** **Department Hiring Range** $33,540- $34,423 **EEO-1 Category** Operatives **SOC Code** 37-3011 - Landscaping and Groundskeeping Workers Position Overview **Primary Function of Organizational Unit** This position is essential for maintaining the appearance and conditions of the grounds at NCCU. **Primary Purpose of Position** The primary purpose of this position is to mow and trim turf grass; prune of trees and shrubs; planting of trees, shrubs, and flowers; weeding, cultivating and mulching plant beds; spraying herbicides; leaf removal; snow and ice removal from the University roads and walkways. **Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of grounds keeping and horticultural practices; knowledge of cultivation, pruning, spraying and trimming requirements for trees and shrubs; ability to perform heavy to medium physical work; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to multi-task in addition to bending and stooping frequently; ability to work independently and to take initiative and follow through until completion or resolution of assignments; ability to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; ability to perform basic computer skills; ability to follow written instruction. **Minimum Education/Experience** Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
