About this Role

Intermountain Electric, Inc. (IME) is seeking a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Intern to join their team!

Established in 1946, IME is an electrical contracting company who installs and services the power and lighting to many different commercial and industrial buildings in various markets including healthcare, aviation, higher education, solar, electric vehicle charging and government buildings. 

 

The BIM internship is a full-time, paid position that will last for 12 weeks.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

As an intern, you will be assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within your chosen field of study.  This program is structured to immerse you in a learning-intensive environment, providing insights into the business world and fostering hands-on experience.  Throughout the internship, you will have the chance to acquire new skills and enhance existing ones, all within a dynamic and forward-thinking business context.  Moreover, you will have the opportunity to rotate through various departments, allowing you to grasp the entirety of a project’s lifecycle, from its initiation to completion. 

 

As a BIM Intern, you will:

Assist in creating and updating 3D BIM models using software such as Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure model accuracy and adherence to project requirements.Conduct clash detection and coordinate resolution with various disciplines.Prepare visualizations, renderings, and technical drawings to support project presentations and deliverablesParticipate in design review meetings and contribute to discussions on project improvements. Support the documentation and implementation of BIM standards and workflows. What You'll Bring

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Self-motivated and eager learner who wants to contribute to the success of BIM initiatives.Demonstrated leadership skills.Impeccable integrity and ethics with internal and external stakeholders.Basic understanding of construction processes and terminology.

Demonstrated accomplishments in the following areas:

Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem solving and analytical skillsFamiliarity with BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar tools

Education & Experience:

Currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. What You'll Get

Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment.  Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

 

Salary Range: 

$20.00 - $25.00/hour

*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity. *
