Building Maintainer
Ensures the optimal functioning, safety and appearance of campus facilities through the maintenance and repairs of various physical structures throughout the College. Work Days: Monday through Friday Shift Start/End Time: 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Hours Per Week: 40 Weeks Per Year: 52 Building Maintainer Pay Status and Classification: Non-exempt, Regular full-time Supervisor: Manager of Building Services and Work Order System Position Purpose: Ensures the optimal functioning, safety and appearance of campus facilities through the maintenance and repairs of various physical structures throughout the College. Essential Responsibilities and Duties: + Facility Maintenance and Repair: Conducts routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, and structural fixtures. Addresses issues related to windows, including repairs and replacement of parts. Performs minor replacements of carpet and vinyl composition tiles as needed. + Utilities Management: Reads electric and gas meters accurately and regularly. Troubleshoots and addresses any issues related to electric and gas meters promptly. Ensures the proper functioning of utilities to maintain a safe and efficient working environment. + Collaboration and Logistics: Participates in various set-up tasks, including furniture moving assignments. Adapts to a flexible schedule, including weekends, for special assignments. Collaborates with team members to execute logistics plans effectively and efficiently. Qualifications: + Two years of general maintenance experience in a large educational, healthcare, or residential complex or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. + A valid New York State Driver's License. + Ability to understand written and verbal instructions. + Must be safety conscious. + Physical requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods, including standing, walking, and bending, as well as the capability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly. + Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the business need, including weekends. + The ability to foster and enhance a thriving, diverse, inclusive, and culturally vibrant community, while promoting a sense of belonging among students, faculty and staff colleagues, and alumni. Compensation: The hourly range for this position is $18.50 - $19.00. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
