Building Maintenance Assistant

Building Maintenance Assistant

 

Location: Mechanicsburg, PA

Shift: 2nd shift (11:30am-8pm M-F)

 

As a trained Building Maintenance Person, you will be responsible for following all safety procedures and practices to prevent accidents or injury. The ideal candidate will have a valid certification in operating heavy machinery and will be able to drive and operate the forklift in a variety of conditions and spaces. The Building Maintenance Person will be responsible for moving large quantities of cardboard & trash.

 

Responsibilities

• Follow all health and safety procedure and regulations as dictated by the organization and the state

• Operate forklift with care and with awareness to people and environment around machine

• Ensure forklift is properly stored, fueled, cleaned, and ready to operate

• Perform maintenance on machine as needed

• Follow and update inventory activity, lists, records, and log all completed tasks

• Move pallets across facilities

• Stack and organize pallets in trailers

• Remove inventory from trucks or shipping and delivery to proper location

• Carry inventory for shipping to proper truck

• Move materials from facilities to workstations, pick-up locations, or other locations

• Make note and request any damaged parts or replacements needed

• Submit inventory records and log at close of day

 

Scope of Work: Pallets/Cardboard/Trash Recycling @ Mechanicsburg

 

Pallets

• Unload good pallets from Pro pallet and place them behind dispatch

• Gets junk pallets from ends of aisles and places them in the junk trailer

• Sort any good pallets both 48 inch and longer pallets and place them behind dispatch for re-use

• Place 42 x 40 inch pallets in sortation for re-use for zero and bundles

 

Cardboard/Trash Recycling

• Gathers from the recycle containers in the aisles and separated all plastic, cardboard, and paper

from office area.

• Runs bailer for the cardboard, and also load bails when needed into trailer

• Fills gaylords – stuff that is not baled

• Cleans aisles when needed

• Collects corner guards and stores and replenishes container in banding area

• Collects Batam and wrap recycling have current process in place for this process

• Wash out trash cans when needed

• Mop head removal and exchange for push brooms

• Clean auger spill area when container switches

• Collect cores for recyclable purposes from shrink wrap rolls

• Collect and stock honeycomb for Outbound department

• Exchange full recycling and trash front office and all departments

• Retrieval and exchange of scrap metal bands

• Empty all trash and recyclable container throughout warehouse and office area

 

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent, preferred

• license or certification to operate forklift, required

• Two (2) years’ experience working with heavy machinery, forklifts, or other related equipment

• Physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, walk, and climb during the course of the shift

• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds or more

• Able to work night, weekends, and holidays

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment

• Able to work independently
