BASIC PURPOSE
The Lead Maintenance Technician will perform on-going facility maintenance and complete repairs on equipment, physical structures of the building and ground maintenance. This position will provide direction and supervision of the Building Attendants to include a schedule of daily janitorial responsibilities, as well as teach necessary skills for optimal efficiency and safety. In working with the Building Maintenance Manager, the Lead Maintenance Technician will assist with scheduling and completion of preventative maintenance, routine walks of the facility to identify repairs, damage and potential safety hazards, as well as apply preventative measures to reduce the risk of future problems. The Lead Maintenance Technician reports to the Building Maintenance Manager and Center Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect, repair, and maintain the Kroc Center facility and recommend outside vendors when necessary. Complete general maintenance to include replacement of lights, batteries and fuses as needed, as well as paint work. Maintain and repair mechanical equipment on a regular schedule. Perform routine safety checks with the Building Maintenance Manager and department supervisors. In coordination with the Building Maintenance Manager, assign and inspect the completion of work order assignments for the Building Attendants. Set clear expectations of Building Attendants and follow up by coaching, providing feedback and encouragement to shape performance expectations. Create and/or leverage a maintenance tracking system for progress of work orders. Demonstrate quality of work and time management with completing assigned duties and tasks as an example for the Building Attendants. Assist with the day-to-day operations and work order progress/completion. Support the Building Maintenance Manager with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new Building Attendants as needed. Provide feedback to the Building Maintenance Manager for performance appraisals of Building Attendants. Oversee volunteer workers, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed. Observe all safety rules and regulations. Maintain confidentiality.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma; or GED equivalency. Two years of experience in building and property maintenance and/or equipment repair preferred. Must be capable of handling job duties mentally and physically. Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving. Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision. Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Thrive in a team-oriented environment. Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and maintaining poise under pressure. Skills to operate basic office equipment. Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft programs and UPKEEP.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead. Able to lift up to 50-70 lbs.
