We are an acute care facility with 25 beds, providing a wide range of medical, surgical, and pediatric care.

STATUS: Per diem

LOCATION: Massena Hospital and Associated Sites

DEPARTMENT: Facilities / Plant Ops & Maintenance

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday from 7a-3p

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs skilled work in masonry, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and heating systems to include: Assists in the construction/repair of buildings and equipment Repairs or modifies plumbing/steam fitting, piping, and associated equipment.Constructs, repairs and maintains wooden and metal structures such as furniture, equipment, partitions, shelves, cabinets, etc. Remodels or renovates rooms involving erection of walls, ceilings, doors and windows. Installs, replaces or repairs hardware, windows, formica, ceiling tiles, sheet rock, etc. Routinely inspects lamps, incandescent and florescent bulbs. Replaces bulbs, cleans fixtures.Repairs or replaces light switches, receptacles, ballasts, cover plates, patient call cords, etc. Hangs bulletin boards, picture frames, signs, shades, curtain rods, blinds and similar. Inspects sewerage pumps, water filters, etc. Lubricates mechanical and semi-mechanical devices. Tests, checks, repairs, installs, rebuilds; lubricates, cleans such things as fire protection sprinkler lines, valves, fixtures, autoclaves, sterilizers, washing machines, air compressors, coiling and heating coils, pumps, water filters, steam traps, radiator valves, dryers, piping, etc. Paints interior/exterior surfaces, furniture and equipment. Refinishes wood furniture to natural finish. Fills holes and cracks; and replasters sections of walls and ceilings.

ATTRIBUTES

High School Graduate or GED preferred.Experience in two skilled trades such as plumbing and electrical. Technical trade school training preferred.Requires the ability to read, comprehend, and transmit complicated and detailed instructions in order to plan and perform job duties. Requires a comprehensive understanding of hospital equipment and operations; normally acquired in two years related work experience.Requires the ability to meet deadlines and to concentrate and pay attention to details (up to 50% of work time.)Requires interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously (up to 50% of work time) with hospital personnel in the daily maintenance activities.Valid motor vehicle operator's license required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:

$22.68 - $30.36

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
