BUILDING MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Summary You will serve as a Building Management Specialist in the Commandant Cost Center, Facilities Division of NAVAL ACADEMY. Responsibilities You will implement programs to promote occupant safety, fire and security protection, building and grounds maintenance. You will assist in budget management, and will serve as the primary purchasing agent through the government purchase card or other procurement means. You will maintain and manage assigned spaces. You will develop both short and long-range programs for preventive maintenance and repairs. You will perform quality assurance (QA) inspections for various contracts. You will receive calls, greet visitors, and direct visitors to appropriate office or person needing their attention and/or action. You will manage all fire safety related duties, fire drills and inspections for all buildings within the Commandant’s command. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications FOR GS-09:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying concepts, principles and practices of administrative procedures in building management; 2) Managing a safety program to include building safety inspections, security and emergency preparedness; 3) Tracking funding levels, expenditures and initiating requests for additional funding or future budgets; and 4) Demonstrating knowledge of building design, construction, maintenance and repair and familiarity with building codes to ensure compliance, safety and functionality. FOR GS-07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Applying concepts, principles and practices of administrative procedures in building management; 2) Assisting with planning and scheduling recurring maintenance for buildings and building equipment; 3) Utilizing Microsoft software for word processing and data management in support of building operations and management. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR Possession of an LL.B. or J.D., if related to this position being filled OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience GS-07: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
