STRIVE stands for Safety, Teamwork, Responsiveness, Integrity, Value, and Excellence. **Summary** The **Building Official** will play a critical role in ensuring that construction projects comply with local, state, and federal building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations. This position involves working closely with engineers, architects, contractors, and municipal authorities to oversee the permitting process, conduct inspections, and ensure that all projects meet the required standards, particularly in the context of geotechnical and structural aspects. **Qualifications** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions. **Physical Demands & Work Environment** • Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear; body motions and movements include: bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing • Lifting and/or moving up to thirty-five pounds regularly on average, and up to seventy-five pounds on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation • This job is located in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions • Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles. • This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud **Job Responsibilities:** + Determine whether changes may be required in plans and makes recommendations to contractors, engineers, architects, etc + Performs inspections of foundations, concrete slabs, framing, roofing, and related construction work + Maintains accurate, complete, and current inspection records + Exercises tact and courtesy when conducting inspections and dealing with clients + Prepares reports and reports data in a timely, complete, and understandable fashion + Promotes continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects, monitors quality standards and practices + Ensures that project requirements are met and compliant with inspections specifications, requirements, and policies **Required Qualifications:** + Valid Driver's license with an acceptable driving record + State of Florida Building Inspector License + Building Code Administrator + State of Florida Professional Engineer License (P.E.) **Preferred Qualifications:** + Mechanical Inspector/Plans Examiner + Electrical Inspector/Plans Examiner + Plumbing Inspector/Plans Examiner + Family Dwelling 1 & 2 + Standard Plans Examiner **Who We Are:** UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
