Building Operating Engineer

The Building Operating Engineer operates, maintains, and repairs all mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing equipment as needed. Equipment includes ventilation systems, pumps, belts, filters, light plumbing, electronic controls, valves, fire protection systems, building automation systems, humidification systems, and rooftop units. Successful candidates must be able to perform all assigned jobs in a timely, professional, and complete manner. The Operating Engineer also provides oversite of contacted services for small projects and repairs, while ensuring Land O’Lakes’ safe work practices are upheld.

Education/Experience

A minimum of 3 years related mechanical maintenance experience or post-secondary technical training in lieu of work experience required.

Experience operating within Preventative Maintenance (PM) program and experience in operating, manipulating data in a Building Automation System (BAS).

Must be knowledgeable with best practices for troubleshooting repair and maintenance of building mechanical and plumbing equipment

Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills, strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite and Outlook

Demonstrated capacity for advancement through certificate programs, seminars, individual classes, and professional association memberships.  Desire to obtain Minnesota State special grade boilers license strongly desired.

Must be detail-oriented, hands on and a self-motivated individual.  Ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions.

Additional Job Requirements:

Frequent physical movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements.

Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment.

This role requires you to work onsite in our Arden Hills facility.

This role includes an on-call work schedule that runs Monday to Monday. Current rotation is every three weeks. Must be available to take a call 24/7 while working your shift.
