Job Title: Building Operating Engineer

Job Description

Responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems for the assigned property(s). Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe working environment, performing rounds, conducting routine assessments, and performing day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance, painting, and housekeeping for assigned properties.


Shifts Are: 6:00am - 2:00pm - (Daylight)2:00pm-10:00pm - (Afternoon)10:00pm - 6:00am - (Overnight)

**4 weeks of day light will need to work 2 weekend days(either 6am - 6pm or 6pm - 6am). Then 2 weeks of 2nd shift(2-10pm) with no weekends, and then 2 weeks 3rd shift(10-6am) with no weekends.

** Pay is $38.19

ResponsibilitiesMaintain and operate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systemsPerform preventive and corrective maintenance tasksConduct routine assessments and inspectionsEnsure cleanliness and safety of the working environmentAssist with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial building systemsPerform housekeeping and maintenance tasks for assigned propertiesHandle the operation of industrial systems, vehicles, and maintenance equipmentEssential SkillsEPA Universal certification5+ years of experience in operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial property settingCity of Pittsburgh Stationary Engineer License or NIULPE certificationExperience troubleshooting mechanical, plumbing, and electrical issuesValid Driver's LicenseCustomer/client-facing experience while performing work ordersBasic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)Ability to document completed work orders successfullyAdditional Skills & QualificationsPrevious experience working in occupied areas (customer service)Strong computer skills (iPad, Email, Work Order Process)Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting experienceExperience working in an industrial settingExperience in the operation, maintenance, and basics of HVAC, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, etc.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

This site operates 24/7 with licensed stationary engineers on-site for 24/7 coverage. Shifts include 6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm, and 10pm - 6am. The rotation includes 4 weeks of daylight shifts requiring work on weekends, followed by 2 weeks of second shift with no weekends, and 2 weeks of third shift with no weekends. This is a new build, covering approximately 250,000 sq feet, funded by The University of Pittsburgh. The facility conducts research, including live animals on-site, and offers a state-of-the-art work environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.19 - $38.19
