We are seeking a Building Operations Maintenance Intern to join our Building Operations team at Donaldson Company. This role requires hands-on support in the maintenance and operations of Donaldson’s Building Operations team. This internship is designed to give students practical experience in Building Operations management, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance while working alongside experienced Building Operations staff.
This position will be onsite M-F, with core hours of 7:00-3:30. The main responsibilities of this role will be within a multi-building campus location in Bloomington, MN.
Role responsibilities include the following (other duties may be as assigned as needed):
Performs troubleshooting and repair equipment in a safe, timely, effective way, minimizing or avoiding downtime. Develops, implements, maintains, and performs preventive & routine maintenance program. Execute preventive maintenance schedules to ensure efficient and safe operation, identifying potential issues before they become larger problems.Develops and maintains appropriate spare parts and supply inventories. Respond to work orders and assist with diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations.Support and assist in the setup and breakdown of company & team events, as needed, including moving furniture, equipment, or supplies.Assist in maintaining logs, records, documentation and reports related to maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections.Ensures that the Campus buildings are operated and maintained in a clean, attractive, and comfortable condition.Works under general supervision and relies on experience and judgment of other experienced peers and leaders to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goalsMinimum Qualifications:
Current Education: Currently enrolled student pursuing a vocational education in a degree program or certificate in Building Maintenance, HVAC or equivalent field with at least 1 year of schooling or related experience in maintenance /mechanical focused environment.Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to [50 lbs] and perform physical tasks, including walking, bending, and standing for extended periods.Preferred Qualifications:
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with team members and other departments.Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a keen eye for detail, especially when following safety protocols and documenting maintenance activities.Organizational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.Basic Technical Skills: A general understanding of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC systems is preferred . Hourly Rate: $25.18, based on undergraduate graduation date, educational degree in progress and major of study upon time of hire.
This position is overtime eligible as per state and federal regulations.
