Under the direction of the Facilities, Maintenance and Operations (FMO) Account Manager, the Building Operator will have overall responsibility of maintaining assigned client's facilities located in Saskatoon and the greater Saskatoon area. They will utilize various FMO strategies to ensure its continued operation and perform tasks such as maintaining safe conditions inside and outside of the facilities; performing minor plumbing and electrical repairs; conducting safety oversight on subcontractors; conducting mechanical inspection and maintenance of equipment. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
In conjunction with the FMO Account Manager and the team, plan and execute responsive and planned maintenance in accordance with BAS or facility management systemEstablish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other subcontractors; supervise subcontractorsPerform basic tours and log readingsRespond to tenant complaintsPerform light duties such as cleaning, painting, garbage removal, snow removal, HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical duties, assisting sub-contractors technician’s mechanics, etc.Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationshipsAssist in developing and implementing quality control programsRepresent the company on matters such as business servicesPrepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clientsAssist in purchase of building materialsReview work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficienciesCompetency Requirements

Class 5 Power Engineering CertificationConstruction trade certification in plumbing, HVAC or electrical is beneficialWork Experience Requirements
Minimum 3 year’s experience as Building Operator; experience in operating a commercial facility, preferredKnowledge and experience with building automation systems and HVAC systemsSkills, Abilities and other Requirements
This is a full-time position with some on-call and emergency out-of-office hours dutiesMust be able to pass and complete the requirements of a Security ClearanceAbility to maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical building systems and equipmentCommunicates effectively, both written and verbal, excellent interpersonal skillsAbility to use computers and related technology efficientlyClean Class 5 AB Driver’s License; available to travel to various assigned client facilities in Northern AlbertaMust attend and pass Black & McDonald Basics of Supervision trainingBlack & McDonald welcomes and encourages applications from persons with disabilities.
