Bulk Processing Supervisor

Job Title: Bulk-Processing Supervisor                                                 

Location: Hy-Vee Specialty Foods Warehouse (Bulk Processing Center)      

FLSA: Non-Exempt                

                       

General Function:

Responsible for overseeing shift operations of bulk processing and supervision of the workforce to ensure the packaging of quality products in a safe and efficient manner.

Accountable and Reports to: Group Vice President, Specialty Foods Warehouse

Manager of Compliance and Food Protection, Specialty Foods Warehouse

                               

Positions that Report to you:  Food Processing Generalists

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Reports to work when scheduled and on time.Adheres to company policies and departmental guidelines.Follows and maintains the bulk processing procedure while practicing HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices at all times.Monitors employee absences, and tardiness, approves time off, submits employee paid time off request, and addresses attendance policy violations.  Maintains adequate staffing levels to ensure that activities are performed effectively, and to respond to fluctuating workloads.Completes incident reports to give appropriate feedback to employees on the shift.  Ensures compliance with company policies and administers disciplinary action when necessary.  Submits documentation for the employee file.Assists with administration and development of training and communication programs.Collaborates with designated employees and management to solve work-related problems.             Creates a positive work atmosphere for employees.Attends departmental and company meetings.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Conducts new employee and visitor tours of the bulk processing area. Assigned to project work occasionally by management. Performs Food Processing Generalist tasks as needed. Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force repeatedly; exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience Required to Perform Job:

High School diploma.  Basic computer knowledge preferred. Six months or less of similar or related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must have ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions.Must be able to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 

Physical Requirements:

Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and up to 20 feet or more with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.Must be physically able to perform medium work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 50 poundsMust be able to perform the following physical activities: standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions

Equipment used to Perform Job:

Windows based PC with Microsoft Office products, 10-key calculator, telephone, fax machine, and copier.

Working Conditions:

The duties of this position are performed mostly in the production area, which is a dry climate-controlled environment.Frequent deadlines exist while handling multiple tasks.Works in an environment where you may be exposed to food allergens, such as but not limited to milk, egg, peanut, tree nut, soy, and wheat.Ability to climb, bend, lift and work in areas of limited mobility.

Contacts:

Has daily contact with employees and occasional contact with maintenance technicians, suppliers and/or vendors. Has occasional contact with federal or state regulatory agencies regarding inspections.
