Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Data Center Technician to join our growing infrastructure operations team. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. This role requires performing hardware and network diagnostics, followed by physical repairs. Additionally, the position includes a rotation schedule where team members are designated as the primary responders to rapidly resolve issues that impact service availability during their assigned shifts. All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to hardware and network repair, candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center space. This role is generally external customer-facing and/or work with external partners outside of AWS data centers which may require up to 60 % travel. All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations: Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in primary responder rotation and provide after-hours support as needed Working in cramped and/or elevated and/or noisy environments Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation NOTE: Amazon is not able to provide sponsorship now or in the future for these positions. Due to growth in the DFW metro region we're very excited to expand into hyperscale sites and server capacity. Your teammates will be composed of Late-Binding and Install and Deploy technicians. Our goal is to get all customer racks into our sites safely and effectively! This position will be primarily be based in Garland, TX, but will have to travel to address tickets and projects at other sites in the DFW area. There also be occasional travel to other sites in the US up to 20% of the time. Key job responsibilities - Performing server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, and responding to operational incidents that impact service availability. - Serving as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors. - Carrying out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to the overall availability of AWS services. - Performing on-call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities. - Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on your analysis of operational issues. - Helping to interview, train and onboard new team members. Traveling within and outside of regional work area is required. A day in the life A day in the life of a BURROW DCO Tech is correcting break fix tickets at our different AWS sites, managing migrations and cross connects, RMA removals, and other projects for the larger DCO team. This is a largely independent position. As a Data Center Technician professional, you have industry-leading technical abilities and demonstrate a breadth of knowledge while you: Take ownership of technical issues reported by their customers, engaging other teams when necessary to drive resolutions. Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, escalating issues to senior technicians and management as required. Maintain service level agreements by proactively detecting and reporting issues. Show initiative and proactivity, even in the absence of direction or support. Basic Qualifications - A technical degree or 2+ years of professional or military experience in an IT related field. - 2+ years of experience with Networking, or Computer hardware - 2+ years of experience with Storage Devices. Preferred Qualifications - Data Center Operations experience (racking & stacking devices, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment knowledge). - Experience in participating in on-call rotations, and providing after-hours support in an environment that operates 24/7. - Experience with troubleshooting server devices and understanding key functions of internal outer components. - Understanding of file systems and Operating systems such as Linux, Windows, MAC. - Experience with storage devices Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
