The Governing Board and Headteacher of Edleston Primary School seek to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated School Bursar from 1st December 2024 or before, with potential dates prior for handover.

The role of the School Bursar is central to the success of our school and we are looking for an excellent candidate to join our friendly and committed team.  This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic and operational support in managing all aspects of facilities management, finance, health & safety and personnel. You will be jointly responsible for the leadership of the administration and premises staff team and you will be fundamental in the smooth running of the school office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic management of financial operations, the day-to-day management of the school office, human resources, premises and health & safety, in conjunction with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and Governing Board.  The successful candidate will have a positive, confident and flexible approach while managing a diverse and demanding workload and be self-motivated, dynamic and innovative.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Knowledge and experience of finance leadership, including planning, forecasting, budget setting, overseeing preparation of accounts and statutory reporting. The skills and ability to work with IT based management and financial information systems. Experience of leading on Health & Safety including Premises and Facilities Management. A working knowledge of Education HR and ability to manage the HR requirements of the school. Excellent organisational, administrative, record keeping and presentation skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.

Hours per Week: 32.5 hours per week, term time, plus two additional weeks. Working hours and pattern can be negotiated and discussed with successful applicant to be worked over 4 or 5 days.  Grade 7 (SCP18 – SCP23) (£29,269.00 - £32,076.00 pro rata)

Essential Qualifications

English and Maths GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) Commitment to working towards the Certificate of School Business Management (CSBM) or equivalent

Desirable Qualifications

Certificate of School Business Management (CSBM) or equivalent Accountancy qualifications Qualification in School Business Management (CSBM) or equivalent  HR Qualifications such as Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)

Essential Experience

Experience of working in school office management (at least 2 years) or in a similar role Relevant experience in finance Demonstrable experience in finance and personnel management Experience of financial management. Ability to plan, monitor and manage any delegated budget; high skills of numeracy and accuracy. Successful management of a small team Experience of management of HR and Personnel Services Experience of leading, coaching and mentoring to develop others

Desirable Experience

Experience of working in a school environment in an admin/finance role Understanding of Schools Financial Value Standard (SFVS) Experience of management of H&S Experience of using Arbor Experience of management of lettings Experience of project management, planning, managing and monitoring of work
