Position: Bus Driver

Department:  York PA

Availability of Position:  June 17-August 4, 2024 (Seasonal)

Schedule:  M-Th 12:30-4:00pm, F 9:00am-4:00pm

Reporting Relationship: Community Center Director/Corps Officer

Salary and Grade: $15.00 per hour; 72, Non-exempt

 

Position Overview:

It is the function of the bus driver to safely transport summer day-camp children and staff to and from daily field trips.

Responsibilities

Description of Position:

Safely transport children and camp staff to and from The Salvation Army and daily activities.Conduct a pre-trip/post-trip inspection when driving.Record any damage or wear in bus. Journal and report to head maintenance.Report any problems related to the bus, such as accidents, damage, or passenger difficulties to Supervisor.Maintain clean bus, interior, windows, and exterior.Responsible for notifying head of maintenance of necessary maintenance and inspections for the bus (annual and semi- annual inspection, oil and filter changes, fire extinguishers, fluids, etc.)Ensuring the bus is fully fueled and clear of trash following each trip.Maintain bus journal, which entails written log of trips taken, mileage, gas fill ups, toll costs, parking costs, and damages.Responsible for securing the bus at the end of the day; locking all doors, windows, removing trash, and lost and found items. Responsible for notifying head of maintenance of any parts necessary for upkeep of bus.Abide by all applicable driving laws and regulations.Participate in drug testing as requested.Safely transport children to or from Camp Ladore if needed. Qualifications

Requirements:    

Valid PA state driver’s license which includes a CDL with a good driving record.3 years of driving experience.Able to pass the Salvation Army driving.Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 along with renewals every five years.Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
