Bus Driver JobID: 1624 Position Type: Transportation/ Bus Driver + Date Posted: 3/21/2024 + Location: Transportation Department Job Description Title: School Bus Driver (PAID TRAINING) *Bus driver position may be coupled with a position from another department for a full day/40 hours per week employment, if desired. Qualifications: + Effective communication and problem solving skills. + Ability to problem solve in a fast paced work environment + Ability to work collaboratively in an educational setting. + Regular and predictable attendance + Qualified to be employed as a School Bus Driver per Civil Service and NYS Education Department guidelines. + Possession of a valid NYS Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a Passenger (P) endorsement at the time of appointment, and maintenance of such license throughout the tenure of employment in the position. + Ability to pass a qualifying physical exam + Demonstrate good eye-hand-foot coordination, and good spatial perception to enable good judgment of distance for safe and precise passing, braking, and parking Responsibilities: Shall include but are not limited to the following: + Attend meetings as needed + Follow directives (written, oral, electronic) + General Bus Driver assignments + Transports pupils safely to and from school daily, according to established routes and time schedules + Maintains proper student behavior on bus when driving + Notifies Director of Transportation of any hazardous road, bridge, or other condition which may jeopardize the safety of children being transported to the from school + Sweeps interior of bus daily and cleans headlights, signal lights, and tail lights + Keeps bus windshields, windows, and rear view mirrors clean at all times + Completes a daily record sheet including mileage and any bus malfunction + Observes all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding qualifications of bus drivers ,safe operation of buses and personal characteristics + Other assigned duties and/or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the supervisor. + Maintain Data Security as applicable. + Maintain confidentiality with staff, student, and family information + Operate in a respectful, responsible manner Reports to: Director of Transportation Salary: As per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the CSEA Unit: Minimum starting salary $22.54/hour (Negotiable based on experience)
