The Operational Services organization at Schwab partners with teams across the firm to deliver on service promises to Schwab clients. We are responsible for protecting and safeguarding the assets of the firm and our clients while continuing to increase scalability and efficiency. Within Operational Services, the Operations Transformation Organization (OTO) is a multi-functional group that is helping to drive transformation across Operational Services and the broader firm. We use a variety of methodologies, tools, and capabilities to drive large-scale change.
This Business Analyst, Workforce Manager, is an individual contributor that specializes in capacity planning and analytics, making it central to the firm’s scale and efficiency efforts. Capacity planning plays a critical role within Operations in identifying, prioritizing, and solving sophisticated problems while partnering with business, finance, and other collaborators to optimize our employee footprint now and in the future. The Capacity Planning team core focus is labor forecasting, descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
You will engage Directors and Managing Directors to develop short- and long-term forecasts from a blend of quantitative analysis and business judgement then translate them into strategic, practical staffing plans that meets client service commitments. Once in place, you will supervise volumes and service levels then facilitate regular meetings to review the tactical plan, provide analysis - highlighting areas of risk and opportunity, and recommended course(s) of action.
Using Schwab’s multiple internal data sources, this role will gather, analyze, and disseminate information upholding the lean and continuous improvement methodologies to help drive scale. Research and analysis generated within Tableau, Excel, and other available platforms will be used to interpret emerging trends that identify and drive tactical and strategic options supporting the needs of the Operations division. Applying these tools to perform various technical and analytic processes, the Manager Business Analyst will create forecasting and planning functions as they relate to capacity, client demand, and associate productivity across the 20 business lines in Operations.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited too:
Provide strategic insights into the relationship between Operations’ outputs, performance metrics, and client outcomes (service levels, cycle times, accuracy, etc.)Create and initiate impactful analyses to address business challenges, delivering practical recommendations leaders across Operations.Lead challenging discussions with senior leaders that leads to results.See the big picture, identifying root causes/drivers, then creating comprehensive solutions that can be incrementally implemented into a dynamic environment.Work with ambiguity to decide the best path forward given the data and information available at the time.Provide accurate, detailed, and thorough work that can be used as inputs by other business partners for planning and budgeting.Demonstrate a pragmatic approach to product design and delivery; a ‘bias toward action’ and a positive demeanor when approaching sophisticated situationsLead & advance capacity planning model, tools, and appropriate documentation to continuously improving our analytic and forecasting abilities.Facilitate the delivery and interpretation of key operational metric reporting including efficiency, utilization, and productivity.Work cross-functionally with team members at various levels of management from across the organization to create robust solutions. Tableau, SQL, Statistical programming (R, Python) skills.Experience with an asset or investment management firm with a focus on data-related functions.
