Research Informatics Operations (RIO) is a division of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) Informatics and Analytics department (I&A) led by the Chief Data & Analytics Officer of Dana-Farber.

 

The Business Analyst II will primarily address the needs of basic research and research administration but will also support clinical research and clinical trials research domains as needed. The candidate will participate in the design and solution delivery of research applications, services, and initiatives to enhance the functionality and accessibility of DFCI's computational resources and information technology platforms. The incumbent will collaborate on complex projects, support high-profile users, and assist in re-engineering and developing new business processes to support DFCI’s need for automation and process development for new basic research initiatives. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Associate Director, Account Services and the RIO Management team.

Responsibilities Responsible for business requirements gathering, workflow analysis, definition and documentation of system requirements for the many research systems.Collaborate on the design and implementation of system and workflow solutions for research computing services and other systems supported by RIO.Schedule and run meetings, report progress, track and route issues.Develop and maintain expertise around the informatics brand; products, capabilities and services to add value to our researchers and their initiatives.Manage medium to large sized projects from inception to completion (team communication, timelines, signoffs, scope changes, etc.)Follow project management lifecycle in accordance with DFCI and group specific standards.Learn and utilize new products and tools, as appropriate, to successfully complete work assignments.Elicit and document functional requirements for on-going implementation projects; Evaluate processes, propose improvements, and educate user base.Document daily activities, progress, and workload metricsDevelop training materials such as content for eLearning and other end-user documentation for assigned applications.Promote product awareness to address all client needs and ensures maximum usage of existing solutions.Collaborate with other RIO and Informatics departmental teams to ensure alignment of work streams in accordance with Institute goals.Successfully build and maintain vendor relationships.Serve as an exemplary representative of RIO. On-going communication, feedback and follow-through with customers/peers are essential.Actively participate in and support team culture.Utilize Dana-Farber Cancer Institute values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors.Perform other related duties as assigned and/or needed. Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree required. Concentration in Information Technology, Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science, Business, Basic Sciences or other relevant healthcare or life sciences required. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements. 5+ years direct analytical experience in a customer facing role or experience in either clinical research, basic research or administrative functions to support research.Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams of 5 or more indirect resources (clinical, technical, administrative), including directing the work of user and business representatives within workgroups.Experience with successful implementation of enterprise applications.Strong project management skills; formal business analyst training a plus.Proficient in complete MS Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Attention to detail, customer service orientation, and proven ability to perform work accurately and efficiently.Ability to be flexible, versatile, and adaptable in activities conducted in a multi-site environment.Must be willing to contribute to and foster a team culture where all are encouraged and willing to share information accurately.Able to self-manage and assume ownership for support tasks and project work.Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.Ability to work and maintain focus within a complex work environment with shifting and competing priorities.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple concurrent, inter-related subprojects. Ability to work effectively with all levels of executives, administrators, researchers, and technical IT staff. Ability to learn new tools and utilities rapidly. Excellent communication skills - both oral and written. Must be able to negotiate and communicate with all levels of staff. Excellent organizational and analytic skills, with the proven ability to multi-task, troubleshoot, and prioritize work.
