The Business Analyst role for the Enterprise Risk organization is part of the second line of defense (2LOD) Global Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Organization. As the Business Analyst, you will be working closely with the Non-Financial Risk Chief of Staff, Business Unit Risk Managers, and Product Managers. In your role, you will support the operational functions of the department and its leadership team. Additionally, this role will be tasked with analyzing business data and processes, propose solutions to issues, and improve the organization’s performance, efficiency, and overall management. This role will report to the department’s Chief of Staff.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Support and execution of the department’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial responsibilities.Proactively monitor the department’s current and future contracts and engagements.Perform continuous monitoring and process improvement activities.Assist with the administration of the department’s governance functions.Assist with documentation of key processes and proceduresCreate, maintain, and manage key department reporting for senior leaders and executive management.Effectively communicate with key stakeholders both within the Non-Financial Risk department, as well as outside departments, such as Finance, Procurement, Human Resource, and external vendorsAssist with strategic planning, where required.

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

Strong analytical skills (e.g., financial analysis, budgeting, strategic planning); accounting background and/or experience is necessary.Knowledge of contracts, statements of work, and basis vendor engagements.Understanding of process improvement and change management.Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and initiatives at once.Strong critical thinking skills (e.g., ability to structure ambiguous problems and mobilize diverse teams to solve them; ability to lead the team to define the root cause of issues).Ability to move people to act (e.g., convening, structuring, owning the agenda and facilitating meetings and workshops to lead groups to agreement and commitment to execute).Ability to establish trust-based relationships with stakeholders across enterprise, lead them towards common objectives and managing upwards and downwards (e.g., experience with acting as a constructive conduit between business and non-business teams).Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all audiences, including senior leaders, in a structured manner, including on high-sensitivity topics (e.g., organizational structure, funding).Ability to develop hypotheses and make quick decisions in a fail-fast supportive environment that fosters and encourages a continuous improvement mindset and execution.Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills are required.

Nice to have:

2 + years' experience within financial services, preferably a GSIB is a plus.Strategic planning experience and/or knowledgeBS/BA in finance, accounting, operations management; master’s degree is a big plus.Experience with planning tools such as Microsoft Planner, Jira or Azure boardsExperience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI

Salary Range:

$61,500 - 98,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
