Business Analyst
Description The client is the largest wholesale distributor of roofing in the United States and one of the nation's largest distributors of siding, windows and other select exterior and interior building products, tools and related supplies. Since our start in 1982, we've grown to become a national organization with more than 700 branches and other facilities in 49 states. Additional notes as of 2/6: Candidates do not need to have Oracle experience but it would be beneficial if they had any Point of Sale (POS), JDE financial, ERP (Oracle or SAP would be preferred), warehouse or manufacturing experience. The requirements they will need to collect will be fore POS & JDE. Our Notes: BA role skills needed: - Must be able to create process flows (current and future state) using Visio or Lucid Chart - Must be exceptional at eliciting requirements o Requirements need to be clear and succinct o We have a spreadsheet template to use for these o Previous use of Jira/Confluence is a nice to have, but not required o Must be able to generate requirements from scratch. If a candidate's primary works today consists of updating web based templates and updating pictures and colors and font then they are not a good fit for this role. - Must have experience mapping data o Creating templates in 3rd party software (if applicable) - Own UAT o Responsible for working with the business to create test cases and signoff criteria o Templates available to use o BA must schedule UAT sessions o Create how to guides, as needed JOB DESCRIPTION: Job Title: Senior Business Analyst Reports To: BA Manager The overall objective of the senior business analyst (BA) is to lead the business analysis efforts for company IT projects, especially complex initiatives, using the established business analysis guidelines. The senior BA may also be involved in project management activities. Key Responsibilities • Direct business analysis effort for complex projects/programs for 3rd party vendor implementations and integrations. • Ability to create current state and future state process flows, solicit clear and succinct requirements, map data, and create test cases from the requirements. • Adaptable to changes as we migrate to new templates and processes to streamline the BA artifacts. • Experience creating user stories for new technology/software projects. • Experience partnering with enterprise architects, BRMs, AOs, PMs, and/or solution architects. • Ability to work with business sponsors to elicit requirements and ensure requirements can be developed in the 3rd party product. • For waterfall projects, document functional and non-functional requirements according to standard templates. • For Agile projects, document all user requirements, functional and non-functional requirements clearly in the agreed upon user story format. • Lead and facilitate ongoing requirement or user story prioritization. • Keen ability to read the room and command the attention of all stakeholders in the meeting. • Working with the enterprise architect and/or solution architect, provide research and analysis to support the selection of business application software required to support business requirements. • Ability to be sole BA on a project and handle one large project or multiple small to medium projects at one time. • The senior BA may be responsible for project management on assigned projects. • Coordinate the work effort of a project with assigned resources. • Highlight project issues and project risks that could cause the project to not meet expectations. • Own UAT, manage the timeline and meetings; develop all user test cases and acceptance criteria with business sponsor. • Ensure all documentation is stored in Confluence and complete and up to date. MENTORING AND TRAINING OF OTHER BUSINESS ANALYSTS • The senior BA may be responsible to mentor and direct/train new business analysts. • May be assigned as Lead Business Analyst on larger projects and direct the work of additional business analysts on the same project. QUALIFICATIONS  Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Information Systems, Accounting, Business Management, Project Management or related degree  Experience: 5-7 years Professional experience/certification in business analysis preferred KEY COMPETENCIES/SKILLS • Excellent written/verbal communication, facilitation and presentation skills • Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and resolve conflicts among project stakeholders • High level of emotional intelligence needed • Experience developing complex, integrated business requirements for information technology projects • Leadership skills, to create a collaborative environment an influence people to move toward a common goal • Listening skills, to understand what people say and observe when there are additional areas to explore that may not initially be vocalized • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Project, Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment • Ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities • Organizational skills, to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to deal with rapidly changing information • Ability to effectively work independently and across teams, functions and departments. • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously • Solid understanding of business analysis tools and techniques and ability to choose the appropriate tools for a given project • Knowledge of SDLC and/or ITIL • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management • Knowledge of Jira and Confluence PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS  Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, and hear; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Role Expectations The Business Analysts are expected to be onsite in Beloit on Tuesday’s for in-person sessions and onsite additional times as needed based on project/responsibilities assigned. These expectations may change based on policies and procedures. We really need someone who can listen intently and adjust their agenda, as needed, based on each conversation. We need someone who is confident and can lead sessions both in person and remote and be able to read the room. We need someone who is succinct in how they speak and prepare materials. Experience Level Intermediate Level Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $70.00/hr.
