Reporting to the Executive Director, the Analyst, provides complex analysis and project support for special initiatives and analyzes information and statistical data, conducts benchmarking activities, develops and generates complex queries, prepares and compiles reports and technical documents and utilizes presentation software and tools to support business planning, decision-making and performance management. Prepares charts and records related to projects. Coordinates the distribution of project tracking information and executive reports. Plans, coordinates and supports project meetings and working groups. Works independently and interfaces with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Directors, Managers, Coordinators, and the project team members. Collaborates with Decision Support on indicator development for performance measurement and monitoring.

 

As a Business Analyst to Director with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

Conduct complex analysis and research to support planning, performance and outcome measurement for special initiatives and projects through benchmarking, charting, and measurement activities.Compile a variety of information and report on findings by entering and extracting data from various sources; develop complex queries, manipulate data, and provide analysis and recommendations based on the information. Prepare comprehensive reports for both internal and external reporting purposes (e.g., project team, SLT, SET, MOH). Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of information and the integration of information from various sources.Prepare and maintain project tracking systems, plan meeting structures and coordinate project meetings, participate on and liaise with various working groups, maintain issue logs, and prepare reports to ensure all stakeholders are informed of the status of the project(s).Collaborate on various other initiatives and special projects with clinical areas and other departments such as Decision Support.Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately report unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel. Qualifications

Education & Experience

Degree in a related field supplemented by financial and project management courses.Three (3) years’ recent, related experience in a complex health care environment with progressively more responsible experience in information analysis, research and benchmarking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

Employs expertise in the use of desktop computer applications to create a variety of databases, documents and presentations.Uses strong analytical, financial and research abilities to support decision-making.Applies exceptional problem-solving abilities to independently resolve issues and overcome obstacles.Effectively utilizes both verbal and written communication skills when providing advice and information and/or seeking/acquiring information.Optimizes departmental effectiveness and contributes to organizational success by applying excellent time management skills to prioritize and complete assignments and schedule activities.Practices diligence and care when maintaining, monitoring, calculating and summarizing data, records and confidential information.
