Owned by Marmon Holdings/Berkshire Hathaway, UTLX headquarters is in Chicago’s financial district, close to major public transportation hubs. This Summer internship is hybrid in our Chicago office with a requirement to be in-office 2-4 days/week for the duration of the Summer program (approximately late May – mid-August).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The “Business Analytics” Intern will support and work closely with Business Analytics and Portfolio Management teams on various business/market intelligence related projects.  The “Business Analytics” Intern will report to the “Vice President, Business Analytics”.  This is a terrific opportunity to work on various key projects and get exposure within the rail industry.

KEY PROJECTS:

1. Commodity to Car Type Connection – identify correlations with published indices by market/commodity to project future rate and utilization of car types2. Pricing Leading Indicators – identify and evaluate leading indicators of pricing3. Competitor Analysis – develop dashboards of key performance metrics for top competitors4. Identification of new Market Intelligence sources – research new sources of market intelligence to add to existing collection of reporting

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance or accounting.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skillsProficient in Microsoft Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.Ability to work in a team environment.

Pay Range:$20-$24
