Job Title: Business Architect

Supervisor Title: Director, IT Comms and Business Architecture

Job Summary:

Develops and champions the definition, implementation, and execution of the processes for the definition, maintenance, and conformance management of the Business Architecture. Responsible for the maintenance of the key Business Architecture deliverables, including business capabilities, value streams, process mapping and modeling, data modeling, and business use cases. Establishes and cultivates relationships within business units across the enterprise and IT to understand business processes and business drivers, business requirements, solutions strategies, alternatives, etc., being considered and/or implemented. Business Architectural leadership in the resolutions of inter-program and inter-project issues. Champions ongoing publicity and communication of the Business Architecture both within the information systems community and the Business unit.

Responsibilities:

Provides overall direction, guidance, and definition of Business Architecture to effectively support business strategyActs as a subject matter expert in the development of Business Architecture framework development, tool suite selection and design, and methodology developmentApply and utilize business modeling methods to ensure results-oriented deliverables in a way that can be recreated and used as a corporate knowledge resource available to project level initiatives, and executive decision makingWork with all levels of business leadership (including executive leadership) to document current and future state business capabilities and business requirementsLeads senior management and leadership through the development of a business architecture plan for the line of business. Evaluate and present information that will facilitate effective and timely decision-making through written and oral communication materials that effectively summarize findings with recommendationsAdvise & guide senior IT leadership in ensuring IT meets each business group's desired capabilitiesDevelop/refine Business Architecture artifacts/templates and create business capability roadmaps that span a 3- to 5- year time horizon; work with the business to integrate capability planning and roadmaps into their strategic planning and project implementationsCollaborate with business leaders in providing input and capability information as inputs to develop business case for initiatives; leads these efforts in proactive engagements with businessConduct analysis to determine best path for solving business problems/opportunities through process improvement, systems enhancement, user training, and/or software procurementFunctions as a liaison to Business and IT partners in order to gain a broad understanding of industry trends and innovations, and their impact on technology; Keeps abreast of technology, customer needs, and industry-related trendsEngage with the Enterprise, Solution, and Domain Architects to assist with translating business capabilities to technical designs; collaborates closely with IT Architects to design optimal technical solutions to meet business needs while aligning with IT strategiesPromotes and leads ongoing publicity and communication of Business Architecture within IT and the enterpriseParticipate and assist in developing regular Enterprise Architecture processesConsult with Industry Experts to provide guidance to IT/Business leadership on current industry trendsBe able to speak to both business & IT strategic road maps to ensure alignmentGathers and validates business and technology requirements to establish scope and parameters of requirements and define project impact, outcome criteria, and metricsCollaborates with internal and external partners to ensure customer needs are met by reviewing requirements, status updates and associated issues; manage customer relationships and expectations by developing a communication process to keep others up-to-date on project resultsInitiates and manages risk assessment process to completion, which includes risk documentation and risk mitigation controlsEstablishes systems specifications and objectives, based on business requirements and cost effectivenessDevelops and maintains process maps and data flow maps for business systems and makes plans to accommodate future work requestsMaintains work plans, incident tracking, error tracking, and documentation required to effectively manage deliverables and expectations consistent with business requirementsCoordinates and conducts user training sessions; develops and updates user documentation, written instructions, job aids, training guides, manuals and materials for users and applications meets with users to provide information regarding system changes and enhancements and to address any questions or issuesPrepares complex reports, correspondence, and other documents; participates on assigned committees and task forces; attends meetings, conferences and training sessions for assigned projectsAdvises and guides business units in the process of developing system enhancements, ideas and work requests. Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related fieldBusiness Architecture and Enterprise Architecture certification preferred (TOGAF and/or BIZBOK)

Experience Requirements:

Experience with MS SharePoint, SQL and business process management tools preferredMust have 2+ years of experience with Business Process Modeling Notation 2.0 (BPMN 2.0)8+ years of planning, analysis, and/or enterprise or business architectural experience Experience constructing business process models and process flows, constructing data flows and models, developing business capability models and value streamsExpertise in creating business use cases and business scenarios with human-centered design, including developing personas, journey mapping, and leveraging Design Thinking principles

Skill Requirements:
