**29213BR** **Job Title:** Business Career Advisor Sr. **Department:** Business Administration **Primary Campus:** University of Kansas Lawrence Campus **Job Description:** **30% - Individual Career Advising:** Duties include but are not limited to: + Advise undergraduate business students on appropriate domestic and international career management and job search skills. + Develop knowledge and familiarity with a broad range of business career functions and industries. + Coordinate career resources for the EY Business Professional Development Program in collaboration with career services work group. This may include evaluation of vendor products. + Coach students through self-assessment strategies, career tools, and major resources. + Maintain familiarity with and promote tools and resources to optimize students’ career success. **30% - Instruction:** In collaboration with advising team, provide instruction for career related curriculum, including but not limited to: + Instruct assigned sections of required Business Professional Development Program coursework. + BUS 210: Career Management and Planning is the typical semester-long course this position will teach every semester. + Other courses may be assigned across the program as relevant to the applicant’s background and program needs including: + BUS 110: Intro to Professionalism + BUS 120: Emerging Topics in Business + BUS 310: Internships with Impact + BUS 410: Professionalism Capstone + Collaborate with Business Professional Development Program professionals to align course materials across sections and goals for career success. + Work with assigned peer mentors for coordination of grading and instruction. **25% - Special Projects:** Each member of the advising team assumes responsibility for ongoing project work within the team. These may evolve throughout the tenure of the role. Including, but not limited to: + Marketing Coordination-Facilitate social channels, execute weekly faculty announcement slides, create, and distribute the weekly newsletter, serve as a liaison to our Communications team, participate in School of Business Communications meetings. + Internship Support- Work closely with the Internship Coordinator to promote, screen, teach and follow-up around the required internship for graduation, including teaching BUS 310, managing applications and doing presentations to spread procedural awareness. This may include reaching out to employers about best practices and internship opportunities. Demonstrated counseling/coaching experience. **Position Overview:** The KU School of Business is seeking a student services professional to join the growing EY Business Professional Development Program (BPDP) team. The Career Advisor Sr position offers a dynamic blend of responsibilities including career advising, course instruction and coordination of a designated special project. A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, customer service commitment and be a resourceful team member. This position provides career support individually and in groups to encourage successful internship and full-time employment, and lifelong career management skills. This individual will work in strategic partnership with internal members of the BPDP team and relevant academic program teams. Key constituents include prospective and current undergraduate Business students, alumni, recruiting organizations, career services, faculty, and advisory board members. All members of BPDP assist in driving connectivity between the marketplace and KU Business to serve the needs and goals of KU students. This is a full-time, benefits eligible, 12-month professional staff position. Alternative and flexible work schedules will be evaluated as per KU policy and School guidelines, including appointments less than 12 months. Occasional evening and weekend work may occur. Travel for professional conferences, student trips and/or to serve as liaisons to the local, regional, and national workforce community is limited. This position is primarily student-facing and will have significant on-campus, in-person responsibilities.
