ActivitiesAs a Business Controller, you will act as the Finance focal point and advisor to the Asset Manager Leadership team, driving the financial agenda in leadership forums and ensuring budget and cost ownership throughout the organization. You will provide financial leadership, guidance, and support on reporting, financial business performance, and the implementation and execution of financial strategies and priorities. Your role will involve delivering comprehensive business analysis and support to achieve business goals by providing key business information and ensuring appropriate challenge is applied to forecasts, long-term plans, and financial decisions. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Cost Controlling team, Finance Control team, and JV Finance team to ensure alignment and effective financial management. You will work closely with managers in the respective areas of the business to support decision-making and financial planning.
These areas of responsibilities will include tasks such as:
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Deliver the data for the Annual Budget and Closure Forecasts with inputs from Operational entities, during periodic Budget sessions.Challenge the relevance of expenditure forecasts submitted and seek cost optimizations based on the first draft of Budget by comparing draft Budget with historical data.Assist to prepare for Budget sessions presentation to Management, in compliance with guidelines and formats provided.
Purchase to Pay:
Control the cost destination and the Budget availability prior to each commitment, inform the Operational entities on potential overruns.Liaise with Contract and Procurement team for Contract Call-offs and Purchase Orders related queries and maintain a strong relationship with them to ensure being aware of existing and upcoming supplier contracts.Ensure the Delegation of Authority process is used as required and applied correctly.Close out in SAP the commitments according to accounting and SOX procedures.
Month-end closure & Reporting:
Ensure all accruals, timesheets and other drivers for cost are available for posting in SAP within agreed deadlines to ensure accurate statements.Review the quality of the accruals, timesheets, and other drivers for cost.Participate in the review meeting and closely work with Operational entities.Participate in the preparation of the monthly cost report highlining cost trends and drifts, proposing corrective measures or actions with Operational entities.Contribute to response to audit queries and to resolution of audit exceptions.
Other:
Ensure constant interface with Manager/ Team in assisting and acting as primary focus for cost estimation, tracking and analyses.Frequent interface with Budget Owners/ Spenders for successful monitoring and control of the budget. Candidate ProfileYour background:
Degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related courses Previous Finance/Business Control experience. Preferably in Oil & Gas and cost related to Operations Strong analytical skills Good communication and interpersonal skills Excellent English (written and oral) Good system knowledge, especially SAP FI/CO, Business Warehouse and ExcelWorking at TotalEnergies
