Job OverviewThe Komatsu Mining Hard Rock business is looking for a Business Controller to be located in their Canadian operations in Sudbury, Ontario. The position will be part of a global finance team with financial and business consultation responsibilities related to manufacturing, sales, aftermarket support, logistics and inventory, pricing, administration and projects. The position will be a key leadership position within the company to support the guidance of company performance and provide detailed financial information to the business leadership.
Key Job Responsibilities Leadership of the Canadian Accounting, Finance, Administration and Systems (as key contact) for Hard Rock business financials. Coordinate the preparation of monthly financial statements/corporate, government reporting, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets for hard rock product division and consolidate for the regions as necessary, this includes P&L, Bridge Analysis, Capex requirements, among others. Assist leadership team with strategic planning, business development, operations analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure that the location has sufficient procedures and controls in place to safeguard the company’s assets and meet the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley, while delivering the expected results. Prepare weekly cash forecasting and monthly financial forecasting to aide measure the company against targets promised in the budget process. Manage accounting department to ensure employee reporting meets corporate standards. Reviews and analyzes operating results in relation to cost, budgets and operating policies and make recommendations for cost reduction and profit improvement with specific attention to variances. Work with corporate finance to implement company wide financial policies, processes, systems and reporting requriements. Qualifications/Requirements Undergraduate Degree in Commerce and Certified Financial Account designation preferred. 5-10 years in financial controller position, public accounting experience would be beneficial. 2+ years leading a team of financial professionals in a global industrial company is required. Excellent interpersonal, influence, organizational, written and verbal communication skills. Incumbent must be innovative, adaptable and flexible. Proficiency with all aspects of ERP system (SAP) and MS Office suite is necessary. Experience providing business consultation based on financial forecasting and results is required. Experience with financial/corporate and government auditing. Experience with business taxation and reporting requirements. Strategic planning and operations experience Results oriented Experience in industrial manufacturing is required, OEM experience considered an asset. Problem solving with strong decision making and intuition acquired through financial planning and leadership experience is necessary.
