We are seeking a proactive and analytical Business Controller to join our Biogas operations in Kalmar, Sweden. This unique role combines both Business and Company Controlling responsibilities, overseeing the financial performance of our Biogas operations while ensuring compliance and providing strategic financial oversight for the entire legal entity. As a Business Controller, you will play a pivotal role at the intersection of operational and strategic finance, collaborating closely with operations and cross-functional departments. You will report to Director, Business Control and be a key member of the Gas Solution Business Control team.
Wärtsilä Biogas Solutions in Kalmar develops and manufactures plants that purify biogas from carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, and water. This purification enables the renewable gas to replace fossil energy in vehicle fuels and in all applications where natural gas (fossil) is currently used, both in gas and liquid forms (CBG/LBG). We are part of Gas Solutions business unit, which belongs to the publicly listed Wärtsilä with its headquarters in Finland. In Kalmar, we house both the office, where all engineering activities take place, and the workshop for prefabrication, assembly, and testing before we ship modules to our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the financial performance of the Biogas operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with local regulations and company policies. Manage financial planning and analysis for the entire legal entity, including consolidation and variance analysis. Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements. Support investment decisions by preparing business cases, financial models, and scenario analyses. Collaborate with the production team to optimize cost structures and resource allocation. Manage cash flow, taxation, and statutory compliance. Contribute to the financial planning and analysis activities of the Gas Solutions Business Unit, including long-term strategic planning and quarterly forecasts. Support financial reporting processes for the Business Unit, including variance analysis, KPIs, and performance monitoring. Identify and mitigate financial risks within projects in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Ensure adherence to corporate financial policies and compliance requirements related to project controlling. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide documentation and support during financial audits.
