Business Developer II - Transportation Infrastructure

The Business Developer II works closely with the Philadelphia, Fort Washington and Allentown office leadership and Regional Business Developer to define and execute all Philadelphia Area BD efforts, both strategic and routine in nature. This involves developing and managing sales strategies, client relationships, proposals, and presentations to support the growth of the Philadelphia Area, Northeast Region and overall firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Lead the development of competitive proposals from teaming and pre-proposals through delivery.
•   Lead kick-off meetings with pursuit team to establish an understanding of RFP requirements, contents and proposal schedule.
•   Develop and manage subconsultant requests for deliverables.
•   Develop non-technical proposal sections and work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop proposal. content
•   Be well versed in developing PennDOT Statements of Interest (ECMS) and SF 330s.
•   Prepare and develop materials for meetings, interview, presentations and award submissions.
•   Lead regular BD meetings sharing industry developments regarding clients, opportunities, and trends
•   Drive successful sales efforts (track and share leads) for opportunities through the sales funnel database and actively manage the process from prospecting to contract execution.
•   Demonstrate deep understanding of Philadelphia Area clients (such as PennDOT, SEPTA, City of Philadelphia, City of Allentown, Suburban Counties and Municipalities), including their Capital Plans, procurement processes, and selection committees.
•   Coordinate and facilitate G/NG process for identified leads.
•   Interface with firm colleagues regarding client needs from Strategic Proposals, SMEs, Legal, Accounting, and Corporate Communications.
•   Assume lead role in strategic approach with proposal and technical team to develop winning proposals / participating from presell (Blue/Pink/Red/Gold Team Reviews) to contract execution.
•   Sustain and grow client business through existing and new client relationships, including contacts with external peer-firm teaming partners as well as DBE/M/W/SBE firms.
•   Serve as an Ambassador building the Michael Baker Brand at industry events, participating in committees, associations/programs to develop new relationships that advance client relations and client understanding
•   Ensure consistent quality on all communications, internal and external.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

•   Bachelor’s degree and 15 - 20 + years of A/E/C/P industry experience.
•   Experience winning Transportation Design and Construction Services projects as well as County / Municipal Planning Studies.
•   Self-starter with initiative, focus and strong organizational skills.
•   Ability to multi-task and work effectively under tight deadlines.
•   Demonstrated collaborative team leadership and team building characteristics.
•   Ability to co-develop and organize strategic concepts into actionable plans and graphics, using collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams.
•   Ability to visualize data (including market and business data); familiarity with business metrics and KPI’s.
•   Strategic thinker with high ethical and business standards.
•   Experience with virtual meeting and conference platforms (e.g. Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams) and associated content and processes.
•   Experience in creating dynamic content and promotion through Social Media.
•   Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•   Ability to perform occasional travel.
•   Strong computer skills with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
•   Experience with Adobe Creative Suite [InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator] and basic GIS/visualization software (e.g. ArcGIS, StoryMap) is preferred.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
