Responsibilities

We have an opportunity for a Business Development Associate to join our Berkley One team!  You will partner with various teams in executing on Berkley One’s agency management strategies to meet or exceed growth and profit targets. You will assist in selling our products and services to customers including agents, brokers and insureds. Also responsible to serve as a resource to peers by providing agent coaching and handling our most complex customers.

 

This opening will be based in our Chicago, IL office (4 days in the office, 1 day remote)

Key functions include but are not limited to:

Be the first on the scene working on Berkley One’s largest and most complex accounts to understand the goals of the submissionExecute campaigns with marketing team to help our agency partners grow their book of businessConsult and assist agency partners with how to optimize the rate for customers, understand our target market and find creative ways to approach an accountInnovate with the team and larger organization to effect the changes you want to see whether it be in the day to day or larger organization prioritiesIdentify the accounts we want in our portfolio using cutting edge technology models and proactively go after them with your influence skillsCollaborate with the distribution team to drive new business, round out prospects and upsell coverage options

 

Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experienceMinimum of 2+ years of sales experience either in the insurance industry or related field You can easily form relationships and talk to anyone; you will be an ardent, pro-active advocate for Berkley One customers and are passionate about their brand experienceIncredible empathy and understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alikeStrong collaboration skills to work with various teams in a high growth, fast paced environment; you are an outstanding team member and task orientedExceptional oral and written communication skills; your communication style is flexible to the situation; you communicate clearly and with a purposeA love of process and optimization; you are excited about the opportunity to help build the Berkley One brand and telling the Berkley One story across multiple channelsCalm under pressure; you have excellent organizational skills; integrity, and great follow-through on tasks; you are comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organizationYou have a strong sense of accountability; a natural curiosity; love learning how things work; and are always looking for innovative improvements Additional Company Details We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting firms.
