Business Development Intern (Summer)

Are you a student who can implement business acumen to generate new leads and help grow an organization’s bottom line? AARP Innovation Labs’ Business Development Team is looking for you! As a business development intern, you will join the AgeTech Collaborative™ (ATC) form AARP® ecosystem team and be part of the overall growth strategy. This paid internship is a tremendous opportunity to learn about the sales cycle from prospecting to closing within a large non-profit organization. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn about the AgeTech space, work alongside promising AgeTech innovations and solutions, and help impact the $45T longevity economy to make aging easier for everyone. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of Summer 2025, with an option to continue throughout the year. Responsibilities Responsibilities include identifying and contacting prospective participants, including business services and testbeds; managing incoming requests from prospective startups; presenting promotional materials to prospects; leveraging and updating CRM pipelines (via Monday.com); and creating clients’ proposals, policy reviews, and agreements. Additional Responsibilities: Conduct Market research on specific industries prone to grow AgeTech and the Collaborative platform Support prospecting efforts Manage incoming leads and pipelines Send emails, set up calls, update records, and help maintain good relationships with clients Attend and participate in all staff and ATC team meetings Attend conferences whenever relevant Support the team on any other projects as they arise Qualifications Preference to students enrolled in a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Business program Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; be considered a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or post-doctoral student; and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program Must be a self-starter and adaptable to work under tight deadlines Must have effective interpersonal and excellent communication skills Demonstrate a can-do attitude Results-driven attitude with a hunger for success Experience developing decks using PowerPoint Must be comfortable presenting in person and via Teams/Zoom Has the ability to travel to conference(s) if available Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools, including Salesforce or Monday.com, is a plus AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time. Additional Requirements Regular and reliable job attendance Exhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationships In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise Hybrid Work Environment AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories. Compensation and Benefits The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
