POSITION SUMMARYThe Business Development Manager is responsible for executing the strategy, implementation, and management of all business development activities to generate new business in the Power Transmission market. The BDM will use his/her extensive deployment project experience and consultative selling skills to initiate long-standing relationships with prospective customers and executive sponsors. Employ effective selling strategies and help develop customers into key references for the company. This position works closely with key customers in the electric utility transmission market segment to understand customer and transmission market segment needs to accelerate targeted business growth and identify opportunity for innovation.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSDevelop the pipeline of new business coming into the company. This requires a thorough knowledge of the Electric Utility marketplace, product offerings, and unified brands of competitors.Help MU organizations obtain better brand recognition and financial growthIdentify and assign new leads to local manufacturer’s reps.Develop and conduct education and training programs to grow product sales with our product manager(s).Collaborates with RSMs and manufacturer reps to identify key accounts to call on to generate demand and cultivate relationships.Execute tactics to support overall region and company strategies/goals by identifying potential sales opportunities within the distribution channel and/and End-user.Works cross-functionally with internal resources, customer service, product management, marketing, design engineers, and RSMs to bring viable solutions for customer’s needs to win the business. Assist customer service and field sales team in the resolution of customer disputes.Coordinate with company executives and sales & marketing professionals to review current market trends to propose new business ideas that can improve revenue marginsParticipate in product development and improvement programs, providing first-hand, experience-based market intelligence on customer requirements, product performance, and other key factors, and providing VOC inputs.Locate potential business by targeted segment. Develop strategic customer sales, marketing plans, and participate in business planning. Develop sales and distribution channels with the RSMs.Conducts exercises such as direct marketing, conference participation, product training, to propagate brand awareness and win subsequent sales for unified brands.Represent the company and the brands at trade shows, and similar events to create business opportunities. Drive the creation of engaging and impactful trade shows, displays and activities that will create exactment and interest in the related brands.Develop and maintain key relationships with end users and distributors.Become a trusted advisor for our clients on value-added solutions, consulting offerings, and additional products and services.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONSFour-year college degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent successful experience in the power utility industry. Masters in business administration (MBA) or equivalent preferred.10+ years’ manufacturing experience and experience in the Wire and Cable industry.
