The Business Development Manager cultivates business growth opportunities in new and existing markets by conducting and effectively analyzing market research, creating professional and strategic networking opportunities, and implementing marketing strategies to maximize sales and expand the reach of our business.
Key Responsibilities Contributes to the development of regional and corporate business development plans that identify and target new markets and support annual sales growth goals.Coordinates and implements sales and marketing plans to execute growth within specific market segments, business lines, and other company-wide products and services.Conducts market research to identify new developments or changes in industry trends integrating new data to develop innovative approaches, partnerships, acquisitions, and markets to support sales growth and market penetration.Coordinates partnerships with other market segments and lines of business to grow the business and achieve year over year sales projections.Partners with all lines-of-business, in each Region, to fulfill our business customers’ needs from our full array of service offerings.Collaborates with Strategic Account Services to identify new service needs and partnership opportunities.Guides account management transitions as well as associated P&L impacts to secure a seamless handoff in client management and business service delivery.Analyzes current business trends and development performance within the customer relationship management (CRM) system and recommends sales and marketing strategies based on data results.Documents calls, results, and reports regarding company improvements to provide to management as needed.Manages and provides leadership to team members by effectively communicating, establishing clear goals and objectives, coaching team members on achieving goals, and ensuring access to training and development opportunities that assist employees in attaining the necessary skills to achieve team and corporate results.Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services and performs any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values.Ensures compliance with all company, state, and federal policies, regulations, and laws regarding employment and employee safety.Career Path Definitions and Distinctions:
Manager: Has 5-7 years of progressively complex experience developing sales markets and generating new business opportunities. Demonstrates a solid foundation of knowledge in Casella’s business products and services as well as client relationship management. Effectively cultivates business markets to create sales opportunities and expand the company’s business reach.
Senior Manager: Has a minimum of 8-10 years of progressively complex experience developing sales markets and generating new business opportunities. Demonstrates solid ability to synthesize current and emerging market trends with a variety of Casella’s business products and services to create a coherent business strategy.
Education, Experience & QualificationsThe successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field, a minimum of 5-7 years “business to business” sales, a history of succeeding in a collaborative environment, and be legally eligible to work in the US. A valid driver’s license, the ability to travel 60% of the time along with periodic overnight travel is required. An advanced degree and experience or interest in an environmental and/or sustainability field are preferred.
Strong interpersonal and strategic selling and negotiation skills, and excellent verbal, written, analytical and formal presentation skills. Demonstrated sales results and track record of success, proficient use of Office 365 and other related platforms, and be adept working digital environment.
