Business Development Manager

SUMMARY
The Business Development Manager is responsible for managing the effective solicitation of Meeting & Event professionals and non-professionals, to generate new business leads and opportunities for meetings, events and hotel room blocks at the property from the MICE Markets.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for the development and execution of business development plans that generate incremental production from targeted priority industry segments and territories.
Builds and maintain relationships with prospective group business through strong communication and effective interaction with clients to ensure their needs and expectations are paired correctly with the Hotel product offerings as well as business terms and conditions.
This position will support the mission and core values of the GSR, and reporting of the results of the prospecting activity from the MICE markets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

·       Effectively develops lead generation through review of GSR database sales reports and industry resources, with primary focus on identified vital sales territories and growing market share.
·       Develops plans to shift market share from strategically identified competitive destinations and hotels.
·       Finds new sales opportunities and distribution channels that are consistent with GSR objectives.
·       Prioritizes segment development encompasses nationwide based corporate/association/SMERF, key vertical market segments that profile well for the hotel/destination, and strategic third-party partnerships.
·       Develops destination experience opportunities and leverages existing FAMS for targeted end-user prospects and third-party planners.
·       On an as needed basis, participates in in-market site visits on behalf of sales managers when travel is not conducive for them.
·       Attend and exhibit at industry tradeshows to solicit new and existing clients, as well as attend professional education sessions. Prepare post-tradeshow trip reports demonstrating the success and follow-up needed from each tradeshow. 
·       Collaborate with Leadership to create content for quarterly Meeting Planner newsletters and to brainstorm sales activations at trade shows and sales missions.
.       Maintain all data within the Salesforce/Delphi system to maximize the use of hotel room revenue and function space inventory.
·       Ensure that all information and promotional materials developed follow brand guidelines.
·       Develops and maintains an accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive knowledge of the attractions and capabilities of the hotels many assets as well as the local attractions and points of interest, and local hotel properties, and is able to effectively utilize this knowledge as a sales tool.
·       Participate in selected industry conferences to enhance relationships and increase awareness.
·       Complete knowledge of status on all prospect bookings always with accurate status reports. 
·       Completes a minimum of eight to twelve quality prospective customer calls daily.
·       Demonstrates ability to work with stakeholders with tact and diplomacy; and has exceptional presentation, writing and verbal skills.
·       Maintains high standards, a positive attitude, and professional image and work ethic, and builds an effective rapport with clients or prospective clients and stakeholders.
·       Actively participates in formal department/GSR planning activities.
·       Participates in professional community organizations as is appropriate.
.       Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a track record of performing each essential responsibility satisfactory.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

·         High school diploma or GED
·         Hospitality Education preferred
·         CMP or other industry delegations
·         10 years of progressive sales and/or marketing experience
·         10 years of experience in hotel group sales, event sales or catering sales
·         5 years of meeting & event business development experience
·         Experience and success with multi-million-dollar personal sales goals
·         Familiar with a variety of the Convention and Expo concepts, practices, and procedures.
·         Meeting & Event Sales Leadership experience preferred
.         Operations knowledge of resort/casino properties
·         Strong communication skills, ability to plan and implement action plans and must have advanced presentation experience.
·         Working knowledge of Delphi/Salesforce/CRM 
·         Must be personable and exemplary customer service skills.

Language Skills

·         Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
·         Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and employees at all levels of the company. 
·         Must possess a strong attention to detail and presentation skills.

Mathematical Skills

·         Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
·         Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to create and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

·         Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions through decisive judgment.
·         Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Certifications, Licenses, Registration

·         Must obtain and maintain appropriate licensing with the Nevada Gaming Board and Alcohol Awareness Card. 

Other
·         Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. 
·         Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products:  Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and Outlook.
·         Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekend hours and overtime as business needs dictate.
