Business Development Manager - Leadership Development 


Position Summary  

The Business Development Manager – Leadership Development (BDM) will be responsible for identifying, targeting, and winning new business within Learning Tree’s Leadership Practice Area. The BDM will look beyond Learning Tree’s existing customer base to expand market share and contribute to our ongoing growth trajectory.

 

Whilst marketing is supported, the BDM will generate its leads through creative prospecting outreach, networking, and industry event attendance. They will have the mindset to relentlessly pursue new business targets as well as the ability to engage strategically with senior client stakeholders to demonstrate the value of Learning Tree’s high-quality Leadership Development programs. The BDM will also leverage Learning Tree’s globally recognizable brand to target large ‘Blue Chip’ organizations, as well as sell to existing customers who do not generate Leadership Development revenue. 

 

This role presents an opportunity to build a new business line for Learning Tree and expand a client portfolio that consists of some of the largest global corporations and government agencies. The Leadership Practice offering is market-leading and is already building compelling client testimonies. The BDM will play a key role in supporting Learning Tree’s mission to transform the careers of the individuals we support and develop workforce talent for our customers in order for them to increase competitive advantage and grow revenue. 

 

A proven track record of success in a new business sales environment is essential, as well as demonstrated experience in selling service-based solutions.  Experience in selling learning solutions (particularly Leadership programs) would be an advantage.

 

Base Location: This is a US-based role with coverage of North American geographies.

Main Responsibilities

Achievement of defined new business revenue goals through new logo acquisition.Acting as a ‘subject matter champion’ in Leadership Development Programs to demonstrate thought leadership and the opportunity to create strategic partnerships with our customers.Generating own leads through creative prospecting and through industry networking/event participation that are targeted at the world's leading commercial organizations and largest government agencies.Qualifying, nurturing, and closing leads generated by Marketing.Conducting market research to identify new client targets and capitalize on market trends. Delivering dynamic presentations and customer pitches that differentiate us from the competition.Creating compelling proposals that demonstrate customer value and business impact.Identifying RFP and programmatic opportunities to help accelerate growth.Robust and efficient pipeline progression to maximize win ratio.

 Qualifications and Experience

Five years' experience in a sales role Bachelor's degree is preferred. Proven past performance of exceeding targets within a new business development role.Consultative and/or service-based sales experienceAppetite for impactful and creative prospecting activity.Strategic thinker and communicator who is experienced with engaging senior client stakeholders. Strong presenter and facilitator of client meetings (both online and in-person).Hands-on familiarity with CRM and pipeline software, along with an inclination to embed it into daily activity.
