Business Development Manager - Life Sciences

As the Business Development Manager - Life Sciences, you will be commercially responsible for market development and sales of membrane chromatography technology, reagents, filtration, and other consumable products for biologics purification in the EU market. The focus will be on creating and driving a commercial strategy for the growth of new business, account management, and promoting existing and future products. Additional responsibilities include supporting marketing and pricing activities. This candidate must have the ability to quickly partner with customers to create unique solutions. Application experience and extensive knowledge of new modality biologics is required.

Due to the early nature of both businesses, as the ideal candidate, you will have an entrepreneurial spirit and experience building and executing various strategic efforts while still being able to navigate the established supporting corporate culture.

Role Responsibilities:

You will conduct all aspects of sales cycle management including prospecting, qualifying, and developing opportunities for Donaldson products and technology, and maintaining a strong opportunity pipeline in R&D, Pre-Clinical and Phase 1-3 trials.

You will build and maintain strong customer relationships positioning Donaldson’s competencies in current products, technical support, and innovation/solution capabilities.

You will utilize lead and customer management tools (such as CRM) and document all customer contacts and business opportunities.

Negotiate sales contracts, pricing, and supply/confidentiality agreements to support business growth.

You will be responsible for planning and executing promotional activities including trade show attendance, and other customer outreach efforts such as webinars, and on-site training.

You will support Donaldson's product and technology roadmaps by identifying customer needs, market trends and competitive activities.

Create and maintain up-to-date market, sales, and financial forecasts to support reporting and assessment of business activities.

You will manage the interface between the customer and internal contacts supporting the business.

You will assist in developing and executing the short-term and long-term go-to-market and strategy to effectively manage and grow the Donaldsons’ business.

You will have the ability and willingness to undertake significant travel which could reach up to approximately 50% at times in the assigned region, including a certain number of visits to Purilogics, Isolere and Donaldson headquarters and tradeshows per year.

Minimum Qualifications:

5+ years’ proven experience in business development, sales or engineering in the biopharmaceutical or life sciences is a must.

2+ years of Life Sciences or Bioprocessing sales experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biosciences, Biomedical, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field.

Fluent in spoken and written English as well as conversational are a MUST.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong understanding of biologics process development and manufacturing workflows specifically with experience in chromatography, filtration, and other biologics purification methods.

Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams to execute projects involving sales, marketing, R&D, manufacturing, and legal personnel.

Business development experience in the EU market is a definite plus.

Highly motivated individual, with strong negotiation & communication skills.

Understanding of international business.

Knowledge of other languages including German or French are a plus.

This position may be located remotely in either Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany or the UK.
