Business Development Officer-Asset Based Lending

Under only high-level supervision, the Business Development Officer (BDO) SVP - Asset Based Lending (ABL) is responsible for initiating new Asset Based Lending business opportunities through the development of Centers of Influence business contacts (internal and external) and highly motivated prospects in order to facilitate the development and closing of new business on more complex, mid-sized and large clients/portfolio. Specific emphasis will be on quality relationships with potential for long-term, profitable business. The BDO is responsible for expanding customer relationships by identifying customers' needs comprehensively and matching their needs with selections and resources within the colleague's assigned business line (namely the Asset Based Lending group). The position is responsible for working collaboratively with internal partners to cross sell all bank product and services, especially non-borrowing services, Commercial Deposits & Treasury Management (CDTM), Capital Markets, Private Banking, Wealth Management, Retail Bank-at-work, etc., to our existing client base and to prospective customers.


• Independently drive new business opportunities through the development of new Centers of Influence business contacts that result in sales opportunities and appointments in which the BDO provides insight and guidance to improve sales results. Centers of Influence include businesses, investment bankers, lawyers, accountants, banks, and private equity sponsors.
• Ensure the risk management of each prospect is in compliance with established Associated Banc-Corp credit policies, procedures, and business strategies, as well as commercial and regulatory guidelines.
• Work collaboratively with internal partners to cross sell all bank product and services, especially non-borrowing services, Commercial Deposits & Treasury Management (CDTM), Capital Markets Private Banking, Wealth Management, Retail Bank-at-work, etc., to our existing client base and to prospective customers.
• Make presentations on specific loan opportunities and work with internal partners to determine pricing strategy, acceptable return, and credit structure.
• Demonstrate expertise in analyzing financial information and evaluating collateral appraisals and field exam reports and applying it to Associated Banc-Corp credit policy.
• Input and maintain activity information in SalesForce and all other required documentation in order to effectively communicate the BDO’s networking relationships and status of sales process.
• Coordinate due diligence with internal and external partners from the initial screening process to loan closing, which includes legal documentation.
• Participate in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the bank. Establish referral contacts with the community. Serve on community, corporate, or not-for-profit boards, as applicable.
• Identify needs and refer prospects to business partners within and across lines of business who can best meet those needs.

Education

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Business, Finance or Accounting. Required


Experience

8-10 years Asset Based Lending or business-to-business sales and business development skills. Knowledge of non-borrowing products, past track record of sales and client management success. Required

10-12 years Asset Based Lending or business-to-business sales and business development skills. Knowledge of non-borrowing products, past track record of sales and client management success. Preferred


Licenses and Certifications

Must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to lawfully drive self, if applicable by start date. Required
