The Utility Systems & Solutions business within Siemens’ Electrification & Automation (EA) unit focuses on expanding and advancing EA's Utility and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) markets. The comprehensive product portfolio includes medium voltage switchgear (AIS & GIS), outdoor circuit breakers, MV control, power equipment centers, overhead distribution products, low voltage motor control centers, photovoltaic (PV) inverters, and supplementary MV and LV products. These offerings are integrated into complete electrical packaged solutions for utility distribution systems, substations, power plants, and renewable energy projects.

The Siemens Electrification & Automation business segment has an immediate need for an East Coast Regional Sales Professional, Utility and Solar Segments. The Siemens Business Development professional works closely with customers, developers, EPC’s, Community Solar customers, and Utilities and prepares timely and accurate commercial proposals and technical specifications for the Community Solar and Utility-scale solar projects and battery energy storage system projects. The BD professional role creates and develops a network with customers, EPC’s and Utilities and develops solutions that include hardware and software requirements for Solar PV projects.

Additionally, the BD professional prepares/delivers presentations at meetings with clients, provides technical guidance in the preparation, review, and final commercial proposal generation to customer, and tracks competitor’s offerings. The BD professional participates and gives presentations at technical conferences.

You will make in impact with the following duties:

Provide customer facing leadership for the Utility and Community Solar markets in accordance with Siemens organizational policies and goals. Manage, oversee, and drive all aspects of the key account management role. Drive sales and strategic targeting of key markets and customers leveraging existing connections in the industry. Work externally with customers, and internally with key stakeholders to achieve business growth objectives. Lead negotiations as well as fulfill regulatory requirements for contract administration process for all Utility and Community Solar projects. Manage existing and foster new customer relationships (Developers, EPC’s and Utilities) with a focus on key opportunities within the targeted markets. Provide accurate sales forecasts and reporting of sales and drive conversion of leads and forecast opportunities to revenue. Partner with the Siemens Technical and functional teams and take the lead on contract negotiations. Execute business plans with emphasis on developing and maintaining strong business relationships at senior customer levels. Develop and maintain a deep knowledge of the market, the industry, and key players who drive / influence investment decisions. Analyze and collect market data and customer requirements for existing and future products and solutions and provide feedback to Siemens Management Technical, and Product Development teams. Travel up to 50% to visit customers on a regular basis and participate in local and global trade shows, conferences, field marketing events, etc.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or Business, Marketing. MBA is a plus. Alternatively, will consider an individual with 3+ years’ experience in large accounts selling complex high technology products. At least 3+ years of experience with the following: Sales, Business Development in the Utility and/or Community Solar Sales or Business Development with an Inverter supplier, EPC Contractor, or Energy Storage supplier. Technically proficient and comfortable working with customers to explain complex topics within the Utility-scale solar markets. Strong understanding of Power Electronics, Energy Storage, and Battery technologies. Experience interacting with sales/business development teams including Developers, Utilities and EPC’s. Excellent technical and sales skills and ability to quickly learn detailed information and highlight product and financial advantages to the market. Excellent social and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with customers and internal groups across multiple time zones and different cultures. Articulate technical concepts with strong writing and presentation skills in person and remotely via webinar tools. PS Skills: Proficient in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future. Ability to travel up to 25% domestically as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Sales role within the Solar, Utility or Energy Storage in the photovoltaic industry. Experience with utility-scale inverters/projects and/or projects for commercial solar use is a plus

The pay range for this position is $82,320 - $172,200 plus incentive. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
