Description of Job
The Business & Licensing Division
The Business and Licensing Division receives filings such as business and nonprofit registrations, trade names, secured liens, notary public applications, bingo and raffle reports, Universal Commercial Code (UCC) filings, and charity registrations. Additionally, the Business and Licensing Division licenses durable medical equipment providers, promotes availability of government data, processes fraudulent business filing complaints, and makes performing rights society information accessible. Most filings are submitted electronically, and the Department disseminates this information to the public through its website.
Fraudulent Business Filing Complaint Unit
The main purpose of the Fraudulent Business Filing Complaint Unit is the intake, triage and processing of fraudulent business filing complaints and delivery to the Attorney General’s (AG) office. This unit also administers the Universal Commercial Code (UCC) program and Business Intelligence Center (BIC), including assisting customers with navigating open data searches on the Colorado Information Marketplace. This unit will also plan and implement additional legislative requirements related to all programs within the unit.
Illustration of some key duties
As a Business Fraud Support Specialist, your primary role will be to provide customer service to Coloradoans by processing fraudulent business filing complaints and managing other relevant filing and data requests received. To be successful in this position, you will need to gain a working knowledge of administering Business Fraud Complaints, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), and the Business Intelligence Center (BIC). This role will require a strong attention to detail and organization along with adaptability and the willingness to collaborate with diverse teams and customers.
In this role you will:
+ With other team members, process all front-end triage, record review, and back-end record amendment aspects of fraudulent business filings complaints lodged with our office.
+ Communicate with and inform the appropriate parties/communities that use the division’s business fraud services.
+ Receive and respond to requests for public data via the communication channels of the Business Intelligence Center (BIC) and utilizing the Colorado Information Marketplace.
+ Process IRS liens and rejection letters, as well as respond to inquiries related to filings pursuant to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
+ Provide guidance, recommendations, and resources to impacted constituents.
+ Assist with other duties as assigned to support the Customer Support Services (CSS) unit (including but not limited to front counter assistance, administrative task completion, and telephone and email support).
+ Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive and personal identifying information and any other confidential or proprietary information, as well as comply with all State and Department policies regarding professional conduct and professional practices.
+ Promote & Support the Department’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a total of four (4) years of relevant professional experience and/or education in a field of study related to the work. To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate that you meet one of the following options outlined below:
OPTION 1- Experience
Four years of professional experience to include a combination of administrative business functions (e.g., data entry, electronic filing, basic bookkeeping), researching and validating information, and customer service in an office environment to include complaint resolution and providing technical support.
OR
OPTION 2- Education* and Experience Combined
A combination of experience as defined inOption 1and/or education from an accredited college, university, or non-correspondence business school in a field of study related to the work to equal four years.
