Business Insurance Account Manager

Graham's Business Insurance Practice is seeking an experienced Account Manager. The Account Manager is responsible for handling all aspect of account strategy and renewal.

JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages an Account on a Day-to-Day Basis: The Account Manager must establish a positive working relationship with the primary decision maker(s) and key contact people within each account and develop a strong rapport with them. Includes coordinating all services, answering all questions, and resolving problems which may arise on an account.  The Account Manager is responsible for having an understanding of his/her accounts’ industries and businesses, so he/she can give proper advice for the insured’s insurance program to run smoothly and effectively. At times, this might involve a change in carriers, restructuring of existing programs, or significant modifications to existing coverages.

Establish Market Relationships: Continually work to establish effective market relationships and strengthen existing insurance company relationships with underwriters, loss control, claims, etc. within insurance community. This includes activities such as attending meetings with insurance company representatives, both in and out of office and entertaining insurance company representatives (lunch, sporting events, etc.).

Negotiation of Renewal Insurance Contracts: Using independent discretion and judgment, the Account Manager is responsible for the renewal of insurance contracts. The Account Manager will prepare the renewal proposal and review it with the Producer, if applicable, to gain his/her input prior to the presentation to the insured. The Account Manager and the Producer act as a team in the presentation meeting.  In certain situations, the Account Manager will handle the entire renewal presentation. 

Insurance Policy Contract Analysis: Using independent discretion and judgment, the Account Manager is responsible for making sure that all of the terms and conditions of the insurance policies written by the insurance company are properly prepared and provide all of the coverages that were presented to the insured in our proposal.

Providing Input of Claims Handling: The Account Manager, along with the Producer, will be asked to provide input to the Claims Consultant in special situations, particularly with difficult or complicated claims.

Supervision of Unit Staff: The Account Manager has the responsibility of supervising the work of his/her unit personnel and conducting performance reviews.

Review monthly Accounts Receivable Statements: The Account Manager will coordinate and manage the timely collection of his/her monthly Accounts Receivable Statements.

The Graham Company may request the Account Manager’s services in connection with assignments not directly related to the job of the Account Manager. Such occasional assignments (e.g., acting as an insurance company liaison) are construed to be for the general good of the agency.

Attend relevant meetings.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

College degree preferred.

Some graduate work in finance and/or management desirable.

Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience.

In-depth knowledge of the technical operations of an insurance agency, as well as technical proficiency of Property and Casualty Insurance Coverage. 

Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment to research and analyze problems and develop a solution.

Excellent management skills and ability to deal with people.

High level of organizational ability.

Willingness to continue essential education.

High degree of self-discipline and motivation.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Holds required and appropriate insurance agent’s license.

Maintain a valid Driver’s License or alternate efficient and effective means to visit clients/prospects.

Professional demeanor.

Proficient in Graham standard computer applications.

Regular and predictable attendance in accordance with the limitations and reporting procedures established by The Graham Company from time to time.
