The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for delivering on multiple common tasks with minimal supervision during a Business Intelligence project on time and of high quality. This position will work on an array of analytical tasks, which can range from understanding clinical processes and policies, blending data from multiple sources to create descriptive metrics in order to build reports and dashboard for insights, as well as being a consultant to the stakeholder to identify and address operational and process improvement areas using data-driven approaches.
We are seeking a skilled Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team, focusing on delivering actionable insights and analytics to business users by leveraging our enterprise analytics framework and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will excel in both exploratory and explanatory analysis, applying their academic experience to real-world use cases. The primary responsibility will be to establish foundational infrastructure for developing and delivering descriptive analytics and dashboards, particularly in the areas of patient safety and nursing practice. Additionally, the analyst should possess the aptitude and foundational skills necessary to advance into predictive analytics, demonstrating comfort with relevant statistical methods. A key aspect of this role is the ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background in quantitative analytics or a related field, proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, and experience with enterprise analytics frameworks and infrastructure.
The BI Analyst will primarily support the Nursing Quality department at DFCI. Nursing Quality at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute supports nurses at all levels in planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that influence and enhance evidence-based practice. The BI Analyst will work closely with resources from Nursing Quality on specific initiatives related to patient safety, patient care and developing metrics for regulatory requirements. The analyst will participate in multiple Nursing Quality committee meetings and working groups, as a thought partner and the analytics and data expert. One example of a regulatory project is the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet reporting requirements that require strong collaboration with nurse leaders and Institute partners.
The candidate applying for this position will have an interest in working in a healthcare environment and supporting frontline nursing initiatives to improve care for patients at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Initially by focusing on foundational projects and descriptive analytics. Familiarity with statistical methods and predictive analytics is a plus, along with excellent communication skills to convey insights effectively to business users. This is a hybrid role; the analyst will be expected to be on site for 2-3 days at 450 Brookline Ave. And 10 Brookline Place.
ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for working on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously Collaborate with manager to identify high level business needs, develop project charter, and consult with the business to define scope.Collaborate on business requirement gathering.Identify data source(s) and develop technical data design requirements.Develop viz wireframes and leverage BI tools to craft visualizations and dashboards.Write SQL queries to develop data sources.Collaborate with internal teams for QA.Contribute to development of analytic assets that can be used institute wide.Collaborate with other COBA and I&A teams to build analytical tools in the advanced analytics realm QualificationsMINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field required.
Minimum Experience:
1 year experience
Master’s degrees in STEM preferred
Tableau, EPIC Clarity Data model, Snowflake, DataBricks experience preferred.
License/Certification/Registration:
Tableau certification required within 6 months of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Proficient with SQL, Python or RProficient with BI tools e.g., Tableau.Able to set appropriate expectations, discuss and present results in informal settings, share ideas accurately and communicate them effectively, both in writing and verbally with supervisory oversight.Develop solutions based on the application of logical thinking and problem-solving in a timely mannerStrong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff.Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Curious and motivated learner.
