Working as part of an integrated cross-functional team, Business Intelligence (BI) Lead Analysts are masters at turning data into information and knowledge, understanding how that information/knowledge supports and enables key business processes, and communicating those insights for maximum business impact. BI Lead Analysts drive the business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs of the organization. It is essential that BI Lead Analysts build an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical issues. They provide data that is accurate, congruent, and reliable, and ensure the information is easily available to users for direct consumption or integration with other systems. BI Lead Analysts educate and train customers to use data as an analytical tool. BI Lead Analysts work with customers to determine business requirements, priorities, and define key performance indicators (KPI). This includes working with business or clinical teams to design and document dashboards, alerts, reports, or applications. This role is accountable for facilitating information gathering, structured documentation, and presenting findings. BI Lead Analysts must have an in-depth understanding of the business environment and an interest in going beyond the obvious and delving into the source to create information, find insights, and turn those insights into a story to drive impact and better decision-making. They must work well within a team environment, and mentor and support less skilled BI Analysts on the team. As the most senior technical expert, BI Lead Analysts are expected to develop and seek new methods and technologies for data analysis, finding insights, and storytelling with data. They serve as mentors to others in the team to increase their skills and productivity. They lead and drive the development of strategic reporting and analytic solutions for business teams and support their goals of leveraging self-service tools and increasing their engagement in proactive analytics.
