Business Intelligence Manager

The overall objective of this position is to lead the BIA team within Meetings and Events (M&E) as they provide a high-level of customer service, business intelligence and insights reporting for one or more of our strategic global clients.  This includes interaction with various levels of client and internal M&E management and performing tasks aimed at the development, retention, and expansion of the global client relationship.

The ideal candidate must have a combination of technical skills mixed with good communication skills to work consultatively with clients and Business Intelligence Analyst as they design and create customized reports and dashboards that include standard processes for data visualizations while also embodying creativity and accuracy; analyze data to identify issues, trends, and opportunities;  and work directly with clients to make recommendations to support their business needs. You will also conduct regular reviews, to ensure maximum usability of all data maintained, fulfilling the business needs, and to prioritize efforts accordingly based on business risks and opportunities.

What You’ll Do:

Coach and develop staff, providing frequent feedback and direction, ensuring they are meeting the expectations of their roles

Manage BIA’s transition to new reporting platform

Work with BIA’s to translate complex information or data into scalable and interconnected databases that supports the overall business requirements and objectives

Work with BIA’s to ensure data elements are translated to meaningful business insights

Work closely with BIA’s and internal and external partners to support future migration projects

Collaborate with BIA’s and end-users in the design of custom Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards, metrics, and reports and performs the development.

Work with BIA’s to translates business requirements into detailed technical design and programming specifications

Researches and conducts data analysis as well as makes recommendations in support of resolution of issues

Applies generally accepted programming standards and techniques to assure efficient program logic and data manipulation

Manage the architecture, processing, updates and reporting requirements of the Supplier, CVB, benchmark, and RFP Reporting database.

What We’re Looking For:

Minimum four years of hands-on experience working with enterprise data tools (i.e., SQL Server, Birst, Tableau, MicroStrategy, SAP BI, etc.)

Bachelor’s degree with technology focus or equivalent work experience

Advanced to expert knowledge on Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools; Access and Excel are required

Understanding of relational databases and demonstrated proficiency in efficient query writing

Ability to work mostly unsupervised. Proven communication and collaboration skills; willingness to take initiative to contribute beyond basic responsibilities.

Proficient in database design; specifically Microsoft Access tables, queries, reports, macros, and forms

Knowledge of the meetings and events industry preferred, willingness to learn required

Customer and service-oriented attitude. Ability to multi-task and prioritize to handle numerous responsibilities with little direction

Comfortable with an environment where priorities change frequently

Ability to work in a fast-moving company and industry

The Company has good cause to conduct a review of criminal history for this specific position based on the job duties (see listed job duties above) and because the role will involve access to credit card data, confidential client information or data and other proprietary corporate information and trade secrets.

The US national annual base salary range for this position is from $70,000 to $140,000.  The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role.  Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
